I got to thinking based on Gnarlee's post mentioning that Palmetto's Hills entry fees were encouraging him to travel to their field. So, I thought it might be helpful to grab a current snapshot of the playing fields around Charlotte to find out what it would cost to play. Pricing is for the entry fee, all day air, and 500 paintballs. I picked 500 paintballs because some of the fields such as Paintball Kingdom include 500 paintballs in the entry fee. Some fields include the cost of rental in the playing price, and where that happens I noted it.

Prices Not Including Rental Equipment
Behind Enemy Lines - ??? ($10 air and $20 rental with air, but I have no info on entry fees or paint pricing)
Boss Paintball - $29.50 ($10 entry fee, $7.50 HPA, $12 for 500 paintballs)
Glory Road Paintball - $21 ($12 entry and air, $9 for 500 paintballs, CASH ONLY)
Mighty Sports Center - $35 ($20 entry and air, $15 for 500 paintballs)
Paintball Central - $41.95 ($12 entry, $12 air, $17.95 for 500 paintballs)
Paintball Kingdom - $32.50 lump sum price (price includes free rental equipment)
Paintball Paradyes - $49 lump sum price (price includes free rental equipment)
Palmetto Hills Paintball - $20 ($7 entry, $6 air, rental BUT only 200 paintballs. $40 for 2000 paintballs so likely $10-15 for 500)

Prices Including Rental Equipment
Behind Enemy Lines - ??? ($10 air and $20 rental with air, but I have no info on entry fees or paint pricing)
Boss Paintball - $34.50 ($10 entry fee, $7.50 HPA, $12 for 500 paintballs, $5 for rental gear)
Glory Road Paintball - $26 ($12 entry and air, $9 for 500 paintballs, CASH ONLY, $5 for rental gear)
Mighty Sports Center - $50 ($20 entry and air, $15 for 500 paintballs, $15 for rental equipment)
Paintball Central - $58.95 ($12 entry, $12 air, $17.95 for 500 paintballs, $17 for rental equipment)
Paintball Kingdom - $32.50 lump sum price (price includes free rental equipment)
Paintball Paradyes - $49 lump sum price (price includes free rental equipment)
Palmetto Hills Paintball - $20 ($7 entry, $6 air, rental gear BUT only 200 paintballs. $40 for 2000 paintballs so likely $10-15 for 500)

For players that have their own equipment, the three fields with the best prices are Boss, Glory Road, and Palmetto Hills. Personally, I recommend Boss due to safety or other concerns at Glory Road and Palmetto Hills. For players that will be renting equipment, Paintball Kingdom tends to attract fewer aggressive players, so it's a good field for newer or younger players to try out.

I think they have competent regulars, but the refs haven't always been very good and the pro shop and fields are a bit run down. Every six months or so I'll hear that the refs have gotten better, but then that doesn't seem to last long. As I mentioned in your other thread, I'd be very concerned about theft at Palmetto Hills. Check out Fran's blog on their website to learn more.

It depends on where you start from in Charlotte. From Uptown/Center City, the closest field is Paintball Paradyes in Charlotte/Steele Creek. From Matthews, the closest field is Mighty Sports Center in Stallings. From University City, the closest field is either Boss Paintball in Locust or Mighty Sports Center. From Gastonia, the closest field is Behind Enemy Lines in Gastonia. From Statesville, the closest field is not on this list - Command Decisions in Taylorsville.

General geography breakdown -

South of City (in order of proximity)
Paintball Paradyes
Paintball Central
Palmetto Hills Paintball

East of City
Mighty Sports Center
Glory Road Paintball
Boss Paintball
Paintball Kingdom

West of City
Behind Enemy Lines
