happiness is: two clean, working, awesome sports cars and the weather to enjoy them:

IMAG0395_zps72ed146e.jpg

need for speed was as you expect, a terrible movie, but just a fun little absurd and ridiculous romp.

According to Pinkman (Fuck his real name) there was no cgi, all the totaled cars actually happened, given some of the cars (koenigsegg) were kit cars but they still cost give or take $300 000. That was pretty cool :P

I thought it was a great movie. Hell it was better than the last few fast & furious movies. At least this one actually has a lot of driving and racing.

The only really good Fast & Furious movie was Tokyo Drift. The first two were allright, but the others, man they were terrible.

The first two were good. If I ever get an S2000 I'm going to make it exactly like Suki's. Tokyo Drift was my favorite. The rest of them sucked because they wanted to go more action movie instead of racing movie, to try and draw in more people and more money.

Could be that he grew up in the south and his parents didn't. My cousin has a southern accent because he was born in Texas, but his dad was born in Seattle, so his dad doesn't have a southern accent.

Doesn't say where he moved around a lot. How do you know he didn't move around a lot in the same state? Or in the same geographic area?

You're looking WAY too much into it. It's a movie, who cares why he has the accent? Quit nitpicking every single little detail, it doesn't matter. It's hollywood, it doesn't have to make sense, it's a movie, not real life.

Just do what I do, pretend the movies exist in a universe called "Hollywood", instead of our universe. Why do things happen the way they do in movies? Because they exist in the "Hollywood" universe, which doesn't adhere to the same laws of nature that our universe does. That's how they can blow up an entire gas station with a single 9mm bullet. Or how they can make an explosion bigger than a 2000lb bomb with only a single five gallon can of gasoline.

Movies become a lot more enjoyable when you take the movie as a whole, instead of trying to break it down and critique every single little piece. Of course stuff isn't going to work the same in real life, that's why they call it a movie, and not "A portrayal of real life events as they actually happened." It's fiction, it's not reality, move on.

Just refreshing it up by changing out some worn/broken parts.
I'm gonna change my power steering belt and my alternator belt, so I ordered those two.

Can't really complain, but you can see my arm rest is gone and someone has glued a reichmark to the heater panel(The car came from Germany to Norway in 2002, first 200k was driven in Germany)
The glove box door also falls down so I bought a fix for that.

the original plan with this car, was to prep it to SCCA solo2 STR specs ... but the universe and toyota's terrible designs had other plans. at the end of febuary, the stock 1zz-fe engine (137bhp) threw a rod bearing due to pre-cat failure in the first 16k miles of its life (when i bought it, and removed the pre-cats to prevent exactly that from happening).

the problem with the mr2 spyder was always the anemic 1zz-fe engine, not a sophisticated engine, DOHC, but only varaible valve timing on the intake cam. with STR legal mods, your topping out at maybe 130 rwhp. a common swap into these is the 2zz-ge engine, from the celica GTS, and US-spec lotus Elise. its a slightly shorter stroke motor, but larger bore, which yes, you guessed it ... means its made for reving. however it maintains the 1.8L of the 1zz. it also has a honda style VTEC system toyota (developed by Yamaha) calls VVTL-i. the motor i swapped into this came from a celica GTS, to the tune of 180bhp (~165 rwhp). monkey wrench racing headers and a 6,000 rpm lift engagement and a redline of 8,250 rpm ... its not a bad engine. 180hp in a car with a wet weight of 2,100lbs, is really, quite lively. zero to 60 is just a tenth or two over 5 seconds.

then i put on an addco 1 inch front anti-roll bar. megan racing street (red) series coilovers (5kf, 7kr), rear anti-roll bar delete, and some 15x8 inch 949 racing 6uls with 225/45/15 hankook RS3s on all four corners ... she is a potent little car. far superior to my porsche in handling, and almost as quick in a straight line.

really, after all that money i didn't really want to spend on that new engine ... it really is a nice little car.

So at least I'm not the only one who issues with how it looks.

this is as fast, or faster, than any boxster made. around a track even more so. the boxster is about 900lbs heavier, and about 110 more hp.

really, its a lotus Elise wanna be, not a boxster wanna-be. the lotus has 10 more hp, and is about 100 lbs lighter. i mean its even the exact same engine as the lotus.

i have no problem it being called a poor mans lotus ... haha

Well this truck is far from stock under the hood. Has edlebrock intake, holly carb, straight piped and is geared out in the rear (not sure what gears.) to get the most torque out of the engine. So it spits tires and screams when you step on it! Gonna take it to a hot rod show in a month or so.

My main problem is finding an AE86 that someone else hasn't already bastardized too much.

If I had any clue on how to do engine work, or engine installations, I'd try and find a rolling chassis and whatever engine I wanted. But I know absolutely zero, and don't know anybody who could help me out, other than my Uncle. But my Uncle would give me all kinds of shit too, and I don't feel like dealing with that.

That slalom course is soooooo open. The one I was at this weekend was like half the size.
I got some footage from that myself actually, should be putting out a video with my 968 and a friends' 964 C4.

Found another picture too.

I would love an old truck like that. An old 50's ford f100 would be really sweet.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting my subi here within the next few months. I'm just not sure if it's a good idea to lease a brand new 15 right out of college or not... Any suggestions? I may just get a used 02- 05 wrx instead. Cheaper payments. The 15s impressed me after getting in one myself though.

Pretty set on something awd for the winters. Would be fun pulling trucks out of ditches with a car haha

Get an older car, they're way more fun. But you know me, I'd take an Audi with Quattro instead. :D
Constant AWD and an LSD at the back makes those cars sooooooo much fun in the snow.
