In 2013, MacDev will be releasing a major upgrade for the successful Clone GT platform. This new level of technology will give MacDev users access to what will certainly be the most advanced paintball electronics package ever released.

The new GTi electronics system features a brand new high performance microprocessor, and ram chips to handle the new advanced sensing system exclusive to the Clone GTi (patent pending). Bluetooth expansion and on board USB will give a range of communication options, which combined with free rolling firmware updates will ensure that your MacDev marker is always ahead of the game.

For all you loyal GT customers, please feel secure. We have considered you in this update. If you have purchased a Clone GT, you will be able to upgrade to a GTi, a fair and reasonable scheme to facilitate this process will be devised. You can safely buy a Clone GT tomorrow knowing that you will be looked after at the time of GTi release.

More info to come soon.

The first live demonstration will be in Europe Feb 16th at the MAXS open house event www.maxs-sport.com /www.facebook.com/maxssport, the second live demonstration will be at the Paintball Extravaganza in the USA.

I've been wondering the same thing - it seems like a piezoresistive strain gauge is the most common transducer I've run into, but I have no idea how it would deal with shock to the marker through use. I would think other options that would be reasonable would be piezoelectric, capacitor, electromagnetic (Hall effect anyone?), or potentiometric. I wish I knew better about the cost-to-hardiness correlation for each of these options. Also curious where they actually mount the transducer in the marker?

Not really. Luxes are still expensive. I still see 1.0s listed for 700$+- because all the upgrades are drop in.

Wait, so can someone tell me a couple of things?
1) If I buy a GT now will it come with this? (from macdev)
2) If not, when will I be able to buy a clone GT with this?
3) If I do end up getting the gti board, will a clone GT with it cost more than a clone gt without it? Will they sell them both?

I believe if you want the GTi upgrade you need to buy the GTi marker.
You can always upgrade the GT to GTi in the future if you want, if I read correctly.

From my understanding, once released the GTi will be the Clone platform going forward-that is all new clones will have the upgrades. If you have already purchased a GT then for the reasonably low price of $100 you can send in your marker or the parts and get the upgrades-good on MacDev for looking after thier loyal consumers. Essentially MacDev will buy back your old Clone GT parts shaving 100 of the cost of the upgrades. If your seriously looking at getting a Clone wait till March I believe it is and order it then!

From PBN:

For Immediate Release (February 6th 2013)
MacDev announce Clone GTi upgrade

In 2013, MacDev will be releasing a major upgrade for the successful Clone GT platform. This new level of technology will give MacDev users access to what will certainly be the most advanced paintball electronics package ever released.

The new GTi electronics system features a brand new high performance microprocessor, and ram chips to handle the new advanced sensing system exclusive to the Clone GTi (patent pending). The GTi will have an on board speaker for tones, and a full colour OLED for graphics, both of which will be user adjustable.

The first live demonstration will be in Europe Feb 16th at the MAXS open house event and the second live demonstration will be at the Paintball Extravaganza in the USA.

This really wants me to try and eat Ramen all summer to save up for a GT... with what you posted Akt the Clone GT price tag should be healthy at ($900 used in 8.5/10 condition) for awhile.

Yep, vs. paying $220 without turning your old parts in. That's a pretty good deal in my book considering how much more functionality you get.

Theyre trying to take the old boards out of circulation somce they wont have replacement screens for them in the future. Because of that I doubt it will be a limited-time offering. Eric from Aggressive Sports is super helpful and friendly so Im sure you could always contact him and have the swap done anyway.

Seems like a step into technology. More RAM... since when has anyone cared about RAM in their paintball marker?
