I've been playing electric for 8 years and recently have been very interested in playing songs that sound amazing on acoustics and bad on electrics. I have a really old nylon stringed acoustic, but the neck is too thick and I don't like how nylon sounds (can't put regular strings on it).

I'm looking for a guitar that can be played easily (strings close to the neck) and it sounds good. Average width neck (like a LP or Strat) is a must. The cheaper the better, somewhere around $100 I guess. Electric is an added bonus that I doubt will be used.

Good acoustics aren't too cheap unless you get a used one which is never a bad idea. Acoustics just get better with age, I recommend a Taylor or Martin if you are into the baseball bat necks.

Honestly, buying acoustic guitars is like buying a paintball marker. Know your price range, and try out everything in it.

I'm thinking about the Epiphone DR-100. It seems to be the best bang for your buck.

Checked online, and I don't see any bad reviews on that guitar. But I would look at Alvarez. My first acoustic was a Alvarez that I paid around $100 for....That was 6 years ago, and I still play that guitar today!!!
But right now I use a Taylor 110E!Posted Image Little out of your price range thoughPosted Image

My first guitar was an old used acoustic, for $100 I doubt you would be getting anything fancy so just get something in your budget that sounds good and plays well

Again, $100 I would heavily consider buying a used acoustic. The age gets better sounding overtime and can achieve some beautiful tones. Just make sure it is not dried out and cracking, that would be really shitty.

I agree with this statement, my old acoustic sounds great and is easier to play then most acoustic guitars under $1500

I think I might shell out the $300 for this. It supposedly sounds great, I'll have to try it.

Yeah Epiphones are nice guitars, I almost bought an epiphone last year before I remembered that I had a job and lots of money. So I just said "Fuck it i will buy a Gibson Les Paul"

Now I'm thinking of a used Martin Custom X. Great Martin sound and playability for $400...

Sorry for the necro, didn't want a whole new thread. I've gotten really into acoustic this past 2 months and played about 4-5 hours a day. I got enough money from my confirmation to get a Martin DX1AE (Solid spruce top). I hear they are amazing, my guitar teacher also has one and says it's great. Does anyone here have an opinion it this?

Are Elixir strings worth it?

Martins are very nice, and I've only known one person who used elixir, and he loved them.

Got the DX1AE with some 80/20 light nanowebs... Eargasm with every chord. It plays awesome and I like it better than some $1200+ Martins and Taylors I tried.

Glad to see you enjoy it. Some of my personal favorite acoustic strings are the Martin marquees.
