How you package up the gun makes a HUGE difference in how fast it's repaired. Sending them a gun without a letter obviously will delay your repair.
Calling them ahead of time, getting an RMA, and enclosing a letter than includes your name, shipping address, phone number, email address, and a detailed description of the problem goes a long way.
