CEP would have a pretty low shot, I'd expect. My bet is Houston, followed by Infamous, followed by Red Legion. Edmonton and Tampa Bay simultaneously implode.

Also hoping to see something big from Impact, hard to say though since there are so many new guys with them, may take them a bit to gel together.

Hard to pick against Heat for the top spot. At this point, I'm more curious to see which ten teams qualify for the Champions bracket, which teams get relegated to the Challengers bracket, and which other teams fill out the Challengers. This new structure promises to make every prelim round more exciting, because every team will be playing for more than just Sunday paintball. I'm pulling for 187 to make Champions.

Well a lot of teams are trying to be competitive again. Damage, impact, 187.

Honestly I love 187 because of their reckless abandon, best games.

I feel like heat is gonna be cocky because they won their first year by a landslide.

The tontons are gonna get fucked because their recruiting 2 psp pros and then some D1 players.

Dynasty lost Brandon Short and last year their snake side wasn't to great.

I'm going with Damage cause they're american but impacts gonna do good if their players mess soon.

CEP will be playing to stay alive, i see them playing over the top aggressive which will lead to blowing huge leads and penalties.

I agree, aftershock sucks, but why not throw in some wild cards? You never know. As for impact, they have Justin Rabackoff(not sure if that's spelled right), and where he goes, success follows. Dynasty is old, & and C.E.P. has all of the motivation in the world to perform.

Im rooting for Dynasty, XSV, or Ironmen. Their rosters seem pretty solid for this year. Infamous has lost its great coach, yet I dont exactly know how it will effect the team. Plus, Infamous is infamous for its inconsistancy in the recent years. Dynasty has a solid roster, with all the old legends and them some, such as Brandon Short.

i think your initial statement may be right about impact, heat was like half or 3/4 of legion right? and basically all the big names? impact has more or less took big names from completely different teams and are going to try n mesh them, think Ollie Lang in his first half season with the Ironmen, not so hot clear across the board and on a bigger scale

I think Impact wont Gel in Dallas, they were thrown together at the last seconds before the season.. There all superstars but I don't see them being able to out gun everyone like it's a 1v1. someone like damage is going to chew them up the same as last year.

Justin underperformed all year last year. Any team has to mesh and Heat is the only team to make a brand new team full of allstars work. Im willing to bet it doesn't for impact. Im not saying you cant throw in wildcards but you legit have to be trolling or just not know what your talking about to think Dynasty will get dead last.

Jrab didn't do good last year because they put him in the back. Jrab is deffinetly a front player. Remember marcello margot at world cup? Same thing he did great up front in the Ds but they put him in the back and his performance suffered

Margot is a good 1 on 1 gun fighter, I think BRL wanted to use him in late games when 1 v 1 are critical, but he didn't enjoy sitting back there waiting.

The Ironmen picking up Margott was a huge win for them

Brackets were published last night.

Group A - Heat, X-Factor, Dynasty, CEP, XSV

Heat looks like they should have an easy time with this bracket. Either X-Factor or Dynasty could grab the second spot out of this group, but my money is on Dynasty. XSV has to be happy with drawing a bracket with CEP to get their legs under themselves for the season.

Group B - Damage, Red Legion, Vicious, Aftershock, Impact

Group B really is the bad draw for all of these teams, as the quality of competition seems higher than A or C. My earlier prediction that Damage and Impact will implode is somewhat less likely since they are playing in the same bracket, but I still think Red Legion is the team to walk out of this blood bowl. Vicious has a good change to pull the second place in the bracket, and could still the top spot outright. The more interesting story for me is whether Aftershock will finish ahead or behind Damage and Impact. My money is on ahead.

Group C - Infamous, Ironmen, 187 Crew, Thunder, Flinguers (TonTons)

Wow, you've got a streaky dominant team in Infamous, a rebuilding powerhouse in the Ironmen, and then three young developing teams. Infamous wins out of the group and Ironmen gets a strong second finish. Thunder and Crew actually get the benefit of playing in a weaker group and actually draw a win or two from each other and the TonTons.

Off-season player changes (if I've got it all right...lots happened, and more still may happen):

  • The Russians lost Marcello and Axel and picked up Mykel Kovar. That seems like a net downgrade to me.
  • X-Factor lost Kovar. Ashton Johnson and Billy Bernacchia are out for Dallas. But they picked up Zack Wake and Scott Kemp.
  • Dynasty lost Mouse and Zack Wake, picking up Kyle Spicka, B-Short, and Tyler Harmon. But Short will miss Dallas with a broken hand.
  • Ironmen lost B-Short, Scott Kemp, Kyle Spicka, and Raney Stanczak, but picked up Marcello, Mouse, and Corey Bornstein.
  • Damage lost Dave Bains and J-Rab, and picked up Raney Stanczak. Bryan Smith is coming back.
  • Impact picks up Dave Bains, J-Rab, and Greg Siewers. That's a big talent upgrade, but they didn't play much Race2 last year.
  • Infamous lost Greg Siewers.
Recent coaching changes:

  • Paul Richards from Damage to X-Factor.
  • Kevin Bredthauer from Ironmen to Damage.
  • Mike Hinman from Dynasty to Ironmen.
  • Todd Martinez from Infamous to ???
Total changes for Houston Heat:

  • None (Right?)
I'd be surprised if Heat doesn't keep winning this season. Everyone else seems like a question mark. It will be really interesting to see how Impact and Ironmen do.

Jrab didn't play the back at all that was all Dave and Jacob. He was in insert behind the snake just like he was on RL. Even he said he underperformed. Justins a great player and he is extremely good but that doesn't mean Impact will kill it.

yea I kept seeing banner ads for asianbeaver.com until I cleared my cache

My prediction for pro:
1.Infamous
2.impact
3.BRL
4.Heat
5.Damage
6.C.E.P.
7.Aftershock
8.Dynasty

dynasty takes last place? right.

Quick news flash for you, dynasty sucked a fat one all throughout 2012. The ironmen & the ton tons have a better chance than them, I just put them there as a wild card.

news flash for you, dynasty won NPPL Vegas.

That's NPPL, it's not as hard as PSP. 4 teams pulled out of it this year for a reason.
