When I hear pro, I think of someone who is very knowledgeable and obviously skilled at what they're a professional at. But then I see things like this and it makes me wonder if they'll say anything if you pay them enough. This is something Infamous posted on their Facebook:

Infamous was the first team to take the field with the new Empire Vanquish. This is what Travis Lemanski had to say about talking the field with the new marker, "The gun 100% makes us better, from the increased down field accuracy laning the corner to the one-ball precision down the snake wire. If we get 1 more kill a game because of the Vanquish, that is a huge advantage."

Well I giggle, but because its so obvious that its what their sponsors made them say it or say things positive about it. Not because they dont know things. They probably do, but dont want to risk losing sponsors.

All they are doing is promoting the gun and their sponsor. It's not much different than any other advertising.

Its kinda like Ken block saying mobile 1 will make every car run faster better and longer. Will it really? No. But mobile 1 (or empire) will only sponser as long as they see a benefit of the advertisement they are doing. And as we know, since we can't prove the vanquish DOESNT make infamous better, its perfectly alright for them to say without being false advertising.

No, i'm sure they don't want to drive people away. OC has already lost his DP sponsorship, and he is now trying to drag them down.

This sort of "hyping up" of sponsored products has gone on ever since companies first sponsored teams, and likely will continue as long as teams/players get sponsorships.

For those of us that remember the mid 2000's, the Smart Parts sponsored teams were full of glowing reviews of their gear, even though most people knew their guns were a pain without some upgrades.

I don't think many of us could really blame these guys, to be honest. I'm pretty sure I'd say all kinds of nice things about a company that gave me free gear and/or money to play in tournaments, and most of the members here would probably do the same.

Using a gun that's been hardly maintained and tossed from person to person more than a village whore is hardly a fair way to compare the marker.

I'm sure someone out there has enough money to make you a meat puppet also? Also half of these guys work within the industry giving advice on what they want to see in a product. Hey who knows maybe its just that good I know I haven't shot one so ill reserve my judgement. A ton of other athletes do it also pretty sure Troy Palamalu's hair has nothing to do with Head & Shoulders lol

People listen to them and buy shit because of it. That's why they do it. And that why sponsorships exist.

yea I kept seeing banner ads for asianbeaver.com until I cleared my cache

I guess its the word accuracy that keeps throwing me off. Whenever I see/hear it in regards to paintball I just sort of stop taking whatever it is seriously. Like a pro for instance. I realize that its because they're sponsored and all, but when they say it its like.. come on guys, really?

Honestly, how many pro players do you know of that either frequent these forums or pay any attention to PunkWorks? Very few. Quite a few professional players don't have accounts on ANY forum, so I wouldn't necessarily be surprised to learn that a handful of pro players believe in accuracy myths, etc....

First off, since when have I lost the sponsorship?
And yeah, that's true. I remember that it's not pros that just don't know it, it's just the pros before them thought it to be true, and taught today's pros the very same thing. They don't have time or don't bother to look on forums for anything at all.

I honestly giggle more at threads like this where someone fancies himself better than a pro for spouting a little bit of knowledge he didn't discover.

Well alot of pro's have been playing before we all found out that barrel's don't really effect accuracy, but alot of people, pro's included, still hold onto that belief.

errrrrrr self edit. pros are not less susceptible to advertisement, but are more susceptible to being paid for it.
