What is a qev, and where in the gun is it? I have a smart parts ion

I play anything.

 

My setup ~ Dangerous Power Revi with a Techt bolt, 68 4500 empire tank, Dye Rotor, Dye I4s with amber and mirror lense, valken redemption pants, Empire 2012 Contact Jersey, Nike Cleats

A qev is a quick exhaust valve. It allows the gun to vent air quicker to speed up operation and in some cases, make it more efficient. In an ion platform gun, it replaces the forward banjo bolt (closest to the barrel) and allows the air holding the bolt back in the "ready to fire" or "back" position to vent quicker, allowing the gun to cycle quicker, reduces needed dwell, increasing efficiency a bit, at the sacrifice of a little bit of smoothness. To my knowledge, ions never had it out of the box. It was an upgrade.

If you have a QEV, it will be screwed into the front port on the underside of the body, near the feedneck, and might look something like this:
