The problem I had however was with some guy in his 50's at least who apparently doesn't understand that in paintball you get shot (GASP!) and it can hurt (GASP!). The whole story was, I was coming down the side of the field to check for the last player on the other team. He pops about 10' in front of me behind a bunker. He points his marker at me. I shoot him. Once. Chronoed UNDER the field velocity of 250 FPS.
So this is where it gets confusing, he crouches down and stays there so I ask if he's alright. After a few seconds he yells out "What the FUCK!", stands up and walks away. Assuming he was just hyped on adrenaline from the game I go up to him afterwards and apologize, saying he surprised me and I'm sorry it hurt. At this point he turns around and says, "Bulllll SHIT!" (what would I have lied about and why would I bother apologizing?) in front of all the players and staff so I walk away to avoid anything else that could put my tiny, fragile body in harm's way. One of the refs that I know comes up and tells me he knows I didn't do anything on purpose. I didn't see the guy the rest of the night so I guess he just left.
Before leaving I asked the ref what the guy was upset about and he told me he said he had been shot three times. Now, this is what I don't understand, I shot once (on semi capped at 5 BPS so trigger control/bounce wasn't an issue) and none of my teammates could see him from where they were and no one else shot at him, or at all.
Also he was wearing a protective tac-vest thing the field provided so I don't know how he even felt pain from the shot.
