Dave Bains caught in action with the new 260 round Spire shell:

Well, john.. you caught us... and foiled our "guess the new product contest" that we were going to have soon, since there's actually tons of pictures in our galleries of players using these prototypes dating back to world cup!

This was also the real best kept secret from the extravaganza, since it was hidden in plain site on the wall of loaders we had! (only 1 dealer noticed..)

Heres a picture from our friends from Paint Supply in Germany. When they asked to take a picture, Chris grabbed it off the wall and put it in my hands!

Posted Image

But here's what I can tell you guys. We are still in the final testing stages and getting feedback from several pros and divisional players who are using these.

This product isn't a huge loader for back players. It holds 260 rounds, but is still smaller then a stock Rotor.

While several great back players like Dave Baines, Corey Field, and Nick Slowiak have been using these, front players like Greg Siewers, and Justin Rabakoff are also preferring it. Conversely Chad George, Kirill Prikhidni, and Alexander Berdnikov, who are some of the top front, mid, and back players all prefer their current size Spires.

Posted by VirtuePaintballMike on PBN:

Hi Capacity Shells have had a pretty bad wrap since previous options have been so big and heavy. For the most part, the opinions are that they are a trade off for more paint off the break, and then a big, heavy disadvantage on your gun for the rest of the game, and that only back players would use them.

That's why we designed our 260 round shell to still be both smaller and lighter then the other top 180 round loaders.

There's certainly trade offs to using it, but from my use, I believe there are a lot of benefits you get through out the game, not just off the break. Such as having a larger "window to reload" (if you load to early, your hopper can't hold all the paint, and you spill it, or if you load too late, your out of paint), as well as more often then not are able to load when you want to, and not because your out of paint.

And our 260 round shell is still small and light enough that you can play very tight in a bunker, so its a viable option for front and mid players as well. Of course, not as tight as you can with a 200 round spire. Another really nice thing about our 260 round shell is since it is the full shell, you can swap back and forth (in under 3 seconds ?) between the 200 round shell, 260 round shell, as well as the lid, or speedfeed.

Q:Is it a complete shell or just a bigger bottom shell?

A:Its a complete shell, and compatible with our existing trey, lid, and speedfeeds.

Q:Smaller than a stock rotor? Looks to be about the same size as my rotor with a high cap shell. It will be interesting to see some comparison pics.

A:It is smaller and lighter then a stock rotor. A high cap rotor is way bigger.

Q:can you buy this as a upgrade for us spire owners with low cap

A:200 Round Spire owners will be able to buy the 260 round shell.

Why not?

Some of the pictures make it look rather large, and some don't. All I know is, if they can really make a 260 round loader shell that is smaller than the stock rotor, I want it for my Spire.

But then again, if they had it at PBE and nobody noticed it because it looked so much like the stock Spire, they must have done it. In that case:

It's funny how just a little geometry change can make all the difference, but a high cap Spire actually doesn't look too bad compared to a normal Spire.

That capacity would be higher since you'd have more space for paint with the drivetrain tray out of the way. I'm guessing more like a 280 round shake and shoot. That's a lot of paint.

Couldn't you just remove just the spire's cone so the tray would still direct the balls down the feedneck?

That's exactly what i did, you did get a very high capacity, but there isn't enough of a slope to make the balls feed into the feedneck. Maybe if you mod it so that it has a slope then it will probably work.

I was weighing whether or not I would forgo the Z2 and get a Spire. Decided to stay Z2 (which I haven't purchased yet) and now this!?!?! Yall just effed my head all up. I could barely tell the difference between these new shells and the old ones in the pictures. Now I don't know what I wanna do. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!

Spire kills the Z2, way more durable and far easier assembly/disassembly.

just to clarify because I'm seeing people referring to is as a high top (similar to the rotor) but if im not mistaken its either an entirely new set of shells, top and bottom, or maybe its just the bottom. heres a pic from PBN where you can see the enlarged bottom half.

After seeing what the spire does, I'm not even going to put them with the rotors or Z2s. Like all this paddle wear is just ridiculous, along with the consta pulsing spinning (which could lead to battery issues).

Anyways here is your TRUE260 Link and this is this spring ramp for your spires too

So you're saying your spire's paddles are wearing or ? Confused with your statement of not putting them with a Z2 or Rotor.

Rotor and Z2 take the cake for me. Spire I don't like due to paddle wear and constant pulse spinning (can lead to battery drain)

I like the spire shell, but not for 55 bucks.

Think about it this way. You buy the Spire for 189, get a 45 dollar speed feed, with the spring ramp for 10 bucks. Add in the 55 dollar shell and you're looking at a 300 dollar loader. Nope.

got my 260 used it the other day. It was really the same thing and holds more paint. So I love it. lol. It's a whole new bottom and top shell. But the top shell is the exact same as the original so you can still swap the tops if you want for the white and black look.
