I was just curious, if someone wanted their own personal paintball field where they can play woodsball with friends, what's the general size of the field that would be recommended for such an endeavor?

For a smaller group of people I'd recommend only a few acres. Otherwise people tend to get "lost" and games drag on.

We have an 80 acre parcel but we use 10 acres of that on a regular basis when we play. Normally we have about 20 people for our games. We did try to play on about 20 acres with 27 people, but the games are too spread out. The fights are too dispersed for any real fun. It also depends on how densely wooded the land is. Our is covered in 20 year old Aspen trees. You can't see more than 10 feet off the trail for the most part. So, it is dense which limits where people go. If it is more open, you need a little more space. I would say a heavily bunkered open area, 1.5 to 3 acres is good. 3-10 acres for densely wooded. 5-15 acres for lightly bunkered open areas.
