Title says all. All I know is that they're older and people loved them.

It was an older style marker that has a 3 way to make the marker recock itself.

This was big in the days before solenoids because that means that this could shoot faster than a regular blowback could.

People love then because of the back block moving.

I'm interested, too. I got to test fire one yesterday at a pro shop and I think they're cool. Like steampunk panitball guns. I've been on Wikipedia, reading about them. If I were to buy one, what should I look for? Or should have leave well enough alone?

I recommend an Autococker with an E2 board on there. THe E1 boards eat up 9volt batteries and I would go for the electric autocockers.

See, I have en electric marker if I wanna go fast. For some reason, the mechanical nature of it gets me. Like I said, steampunk. I think it's...charming, for lack of a better description. I think for me, the point isn't to keep up but to have something that I think is cool and unique that I can still use. It looks like a gadget out of Hellboy or something and the sound it makes when you're shooting it is wicked cool. I kinda want one in Brass, Bronze and Black.

Um... no. What would make you think that?

Teams back in the day used either Impulses, Intimidators, or electric Autocockers. All the E-Blade does is make the gun shoot faster.

If youre looking for a fine tuned 'cocker look on M Carter Brown, lots of old player like myself there
They are very acurate and fun to shoot, heaveir than most Tippmans unless short blocked, are insanly hard to tune unless youre familiar with them, think of them as a recocking pump gun
I personally love to shoot them, but unless youre a tinkerer or know someone around to show you the ropes I wouldnt recommend one
If you do decide to buy one try a more stock than modified one at first, some parts are incompatible between the versions and are hard to find, make sure its an oficial WGP product,I recommened the STO models or ProTeam Products(PTP) versions, they will be a little more but worth it

Adding to what has already been said here, 'cockers are NOT for people that want a gun that is just "gas up and go". Between timing and sweet spotting the marker alone an autococker can take up more time to just get shooting like it should be than most people would spend doing full maintenance on a more modern electronic gun. Don't get me wrong, the work put into them is worth it and they are really damn cool to play with. But anyone that might consider buying one NEEDS to do their research first.

One of the Autococker's selling points was its "closed bolt accuracy" that was allegedly better than any other marker of the time.

Marketing departments have a habit of glamorizing what they are selling. It more than likely had a placebo effect on players, making them go on to claim that their closed bolt gun was so ridiculously accurate. For the longest time the majority of players would spew sewage of how one thing or another on their gun made it more accurate. Mostly people just bought into thinking that accuracy was entirely on the gun, and if that was what sold guns then that was what the companies would claim. The fact that not a lot of real testing was done by the majority of people to see if they were getting ripped off or not did not help in the slightest.

It wasn't just some opinion or placebo by a lot of players, there was an actual claim that because the paintball wasn't being pushed forwards through the breech by the bolt during the shot, and was simply being pushed by the pulse of air, that this was somehow more accurate.

I still want one. I kinda want one like the one I shot the other day. It had a light double trigger and you could walk it pretty fast. But then I kinda like the single trigger ones. Kinda like the new Resurrection. Whatever I get, I'm gonna have it don up in brass, bronze and black. Been checking eBay but the problem is that I don't know what's good yet.

Yes,we all know one marker is equal to another for the most part.Ball quality, consistant velocity, componenet quality and tollerence, bore matching are keys to accuracy. That being said MOST 'cocker build quality is superior to other markers of its time, also a properly working&timed 'cocker will be more consistant than most markers of its day.In the 90s Automag and 'cockers were the choice markers for tourney players, both still have loyal followings,I still have 1 of both I like to use a scenario or public fields
Never tried lubing with shit, does it relly make guns shoot better?

The nexus line of cockers shoot no different then another e cocker with comparable parts... Ive owned enough ecockers, including 2 dc2's to be able to back it up... Its all in how you tune the gun...

That being said, all i shoot are cockers... My electro is a shocktech gen4 SFL and my trust go to gun is my mini orracle pump... Out of the 30+ guns ive owned since 2009, i seem to always come back to cockers... Its what i started playing with, its what i am comfortable with, and its what i find myself most accurate with..l and its not the gun its just what i am used to. I find i can get someone out in fewer shots with one of my cockers thei ever could with my egos or vics... If you are comfortable a gun, you will play better with said gun...

If you want a really cheap autococker, look at a trilogy. They simplified them to where a person can't change a whole lot and mess them up. Did I mention they are cheap......like $40-50 cheap. You get the basic feel of how an autococker shoots with out a lot of the timing issues. That is also why a lot of the people who own autocockers hate them...you can't tinker with them. I also have a black magic. Very good quality autococker. You are also going to pay around $150+ for one...but it is also worth the money (and considering how expensive higher quality autocockers can get, they are very well priced at that $150 range). But there are a lot of options out there at different price ranges.

I swear a full bodied cocker points better than another gun I have ever shot.

Trillys are good start up cockers, I just refuse to own one because I cant stand the 3 way and the shitty valve design.

Shitty valve design? It's the same bloody valve, it just has a more standard design that doesn't use a valve lock nut like the more common style cocker valve.

DC2's are just like any other cocker but they are that hot blonde that you cook wonderful pancakes with every night.

So I went and checked out that autococker again and it was, in fact, an electro-cocker. I believe he said it was a WGP with an E-Blade trigger It was still really cool but now I can't make up my mind if I want one that's all mechanical or if I want en electrical. I'm still leaning toward all mechanical.
