Why did autococker production die off? they still perform well against high ends, are more customizable than an ion, and have tool less bolts stock.

With the amount of clueless people today, no one would understand them. Manufacturers don't want to deal with broken guns all the time because of dumb user error.

Well that and other markers are just...better. Not for the price, but technology overcame them. Easier maintenence and user friendly design is smart innovation, not appeasement to the dumb and lazy. Dont blame the dumb people for the death of the autococker era, blame technology and innovation. Now? They're cool gimmicks and toys to be played with. Sure they can 'compete' with higher ends, but in that context, so can an experienced pump player or a pro with an Azodin Blitz. And I've seen it. Just because it can 'compete' doesnt mean it should ignore the test of time.

almost every gun nowdays has tooless bolts stock. For a new person, or anybody who is not experienced with cockers, they are a nightmare to deal with. Yea, they are good, but they aren't any better than what is offered today.

Among what has already been said, WGP was making shitty autocockers toward the end of the company's life. If you don't bring a good product to the table, no one will buy it.

Also, OP what happened to your "mags>cockers" standpoint you had going? Suddenly you seem very interested in getting a cocker...

I would very much prefer an automag, but these days Xmags are more expensive than a prostock for example. Plus i dont think anyone would ever take a crossover for an Xmag. they are both really cool however. I've always wanted a cocker because of the backblock. but in my opinion an automag is a better marker in almost every aspect

They're not mine. They're my friend's. But when he goes to play I go with him and ask him to bring one of them. His dad says he'll never sell them (they're his dad's). I love shooting them, but sometimes I get bored and go to my eNMEy.

To me, to say better isn't giving the gun the justice it deserves. Is a 2013 Kia Optima easier to maintain and have better design and innovation and technology vs a 70 Shelby GT? Yes. Does it make it better? Yes and No. Take an Automag RT Pro. It will shoot just as fast as any electro gun out there....and that gun is 15 years old. The main reason why WPG doesn't make autocockers anymore, is because they turned their product into a joke. The sale of it to the company that owns brass eagle, turned everything about them into a joke. They ran the name and the product into the ground. They brought lawsuits to companies that made aftermarket parts for it....basically eliminating any upgrades. They took a part of the lifebood of the product and dried it up.

they're just not competitive in the market today. half the players don't even know how they work, they're a pain to clean because of all the crap hanging off the front. and if you have a full block without a beaver tail you'll be constantly smacked in the face the the back block. with that being said, i love cockers. they just have this mystique to them, in two years i've only really seen about 2 cockers at my field. not cocker pumps, just cockers. they're alot of fun and can turn some heads. i love my karnivor Posted Image

cockers died out becuase WGP was purchased by a ompany that put a cease and desist order out on all cocker parts production... 2005 was the last god year for the e-cocker, 2002 , in my eyes, for a mech cocker...

i've own an x-mag before... i liked the idea of of, it, but hated it over all... inefficient, heavy, awkward to hold... wasnt a fan at all...

and for those that think cockers still cant compete with todays guns... i've had less issues at the field wiht my cockers then i have with any of my modern high ends... they are easy to tech onc eyou learn them, but, they do have a learning curve... it used to be in paintball that you had to have some smarts to fix, repair or tech your guns... thats been lost today, and i think the sport has suffered for it... hell, i learned how to time and tune a cocker by taking apart my first cocker in teh basement and working in it till i got it shooting again...

cockers are just as easy to maintain as any modern gun... it may just take a bit more time to tune it...

i've podiumed at local tournaments playing with my cockers... its all i shoot these days.... they are the work horses of paintball, you jsut have to give them a little bit of love

Let me clarify here. The above statement does NOT include e-cockers.

not really... it made the cocker the dominant gun on the tournament scene for a number of years... the eblade made it possible for less tech savy people to tech and work on cockers, as most of the timing is taken care of by the board... while i agree... a mech cocker is the purest cocker... but, e-cockers really were what brought the platform to the next level
