Hey I was just wondering if you guys can tell me some really good upgrades for my Tippmann 98 Custom. I already know about the HPA tank so don't list that. List some good barrels I can use and maybe some hoppers. Anything that can be helpful.

The 98 flatline is supposed to be great, but if you don't want to break the bank, you could get a cp one-piece. A good hopper could be a viewloader revolution, (because they are very cheap) or you could get a cyclone, which would pretty much make your gun an A-5.

Get a repsonse trigger or e-grip, so you can (kind of) keep up with electros.

Don't bother with a cyclone feed, spend the cash on a fast electric hopper like a halo/B2 etc, and then you can use that hopper on any gun you own in the future, unlike the cyclone.

And for a barrel, there are thousands, but at the cheapo end of the scale there's the J&J series, CP 1 piece, SP progressive - remember, just because these are cheap doesn't mean they are bad. Then something like a freak kit will work on any gun (as long as you have the right back for it), but these can get expensive.

Besides HPA like you already mentioned, I would get the following for starting out:

1. Rocket Cock II
2. Upgrade your barrel (anything will do)
3. Zero Kick hammer
4. Any force-fed hopper

Beyond that, it's all personal preference. I would note that if you get a regulator down the road to lower your pressure on your gun, then you may want to ditch the Zero Kick as you won't be able to drop down as much. However for a stock setup, the ZK will make your gun more efficient.

Good luck and have fun!

For a barrel I would recommend a J&J ceramic. They are decently accurate but if you happen to get bad paint or break a ball you don't have to stop to clean it. The next 10 or so shots will clean the barrel for you. Thus making your marker like an ak-47, its not the best gun but it will ALWAYS work. I have never had to stop during a game to squeegee my gun.

Plus its only like $60 bucks.

zero kick and center feed is #1 if you are going to use this in competition

for general upgrades id get a decent barrel (if you plan to keep this a while, check out barrel kits) and ff loader (dont go crazy on a loader)

egrip is a must!

O okay thanks dudes. BTW can I install an E-Grip or E-Trigger to my Tippman 98 Custom ACT. Or is my gun made so that I can only install the Double Trigger Kit?

Really the only thing to get is the Flatline. And because you have HPA it will work great with the right paint.

And yes Zakariya Mahmod the 98 Custom ACT is supposed to have the abitlity of getting E-Grip or E-Trigger. I would only recammend using the double trigger and not the E-Grip or E-Trigger unless you want full auto or 3 round burst (the only reason to get it).

And I can say that because I have the same exact marker.

12"-14" CP one-piece or 14" SP Linear are $30 and have worked really well for me. In fact, that's all I've pretty much done to mine. Reminds me of the old days when that was all you needed.

Center Feed? Is that a mod that has to be done, or is it retail?

It's an "upgrade" part that requires modification of the receivers to work.

stay with a stock gun for now, I'd go

Hopper First (get the most expensive one you can afford)
Tank (got deals on 68/4500 HPA tanks for $110 in the TechPB Deal Hunter), or go with a Ninja for $!50

Hopper definitely first, stay with the stock gun until you get these essentials

Basically you drill a hol through the top of both receivers (while they are bolted together)

You can do it yourself. A shop may charge $5-10.

don't bother with an e grip or r trigger... just get a 12v revi, hpa, barrel (cp 1 piece, j and j, or bigshot w/ apex), and play with that.. I wouldn't drop too much money into it right away because you will realise a year later you wish you would have held off on some certain upgrades.
