I already have a mask, tank, and loader on the way but I need a gun. I had a 600 dollar budget and about 330 is left. Feel free to add any other guns in that price range that I have forgotten and please no minis.

Why no mini?

Are you open to anything used?

I chose the Crossover out of the three. I chose against the Proton purely on looks and function (I wanted the mech mode), but I've heard others that have used it say that the trigger is not terribly semi-friendly. It is a great value at the price range, though - like a beefed up, macroless Ion. I think the biggest knock I have on it, and especially also to the DP G5, is the poor efficiency of the marker. With the G5, I think players don't necessarily like the quality reputation that Dangerous Power has developed nor the shot quality when playing with it. Honestly, that really didn't turn me away, I just think the local DP sales guy is a tool.

Comparison:
All three are hoseless. The Crossover does not have an On/Off but the other two do.
Crossover does not use standard barrel threads but the others do.
Crossover is the most efficient by a good bit.
Proton is probably the smoothest, G5 is probably the roughest. I've never shot all three at the same time to be sure.
Crossover has the best warranty and customer service. G5 is going to have the most suspect quality control and service, but probably okay.
The G5's feedneck in my opinion is a little better than the Crossover or Proton, but not much.
Proton and Crossover both have a mechanical on/off - the G5 has a rear button. Kind of a ho hum difference, but that may be important to someone.

GoG Envy with Blackheart is also a REALLY solid choice, those things are work horses.

Well at that point you might as well get the eXTCy. More stuff for the same price.
However, I would try looking used, and get an Axe for the same price range.
If you absolutely refuse to accept the amazing trick that is buying used markers, I'd say go with the Crossover.

I am not very experienced in the used market so that's my only concern. If i find one i will most likely get an Axe. Any other choices that could contend with the axe?

Could the crossover accept an on/off asa?

yes but you would need to: buy the on/off, a High Pressure regulator, such as a hyper 3, macroline, and the adaptor peice from tippmann

Haha i guess that's not an option.... I do like the macro less though ( obviously ). If i work a little more i could probably make another 100 in a week making that about 430... Still looking in the new and considering the Used what could i grab for that?

Pretty much any of the newer or recently old mid-range markers or an older high end marker at the $430 Used price point.

Such as:

Axe with redline
DP Fusion X
Etek 4 LT
Alien Invasion
MacDev Drone DX
Bob Long Protege, maybe a Vice (mostly the same marker anyway)
PE Ego 8-9ish
PE Geo
MacDev Droid
Maybe a MacDev Cyborg RX
Maybe a Vanguard Creed
Bob Long Marq - maybe a Closer
Dye DM 9-10ish
Happiness... is a warm mechanical marker

G5 all the way, tippman is just not cut out for speed ball, they should stick to what there good at, the g5 is quiet, accurate as hell, I can hit somebody in the mask with out even trying, it's durable and overall really well made! And it's also cheaper!!!! Get the g5 and if u don't I wouldn't be surprised if ur dissapointed

It's not that quiet, and, like all markers, not any more accurate than other markers, and is equally "durable"

really..
anybody could use a tippman on a speedball field. what they are good at is making paintball guns. also, all guns are as equally accurate. the paint determines accuracy. most guns are "durable".

Proton > G5

Crossover's are quite smooth actually. Not Luxe smooth but what i expect a Geo to shoot like. Not buttery smooth but not STBB rough

If you want something that you can show off to your friends & don't mind fixing every time you come home from the field, get a G5.
If you want something that you might as well flip a coin on whether or not it will actually work, get a proton.
If you want something that will work, shoot nice, be easy to maintain, & can be used anywhere, get a crossover.

Please, enlighten us with your evidence for this.

Or pretty much any other paintball gun over $250

like i said in  2 previous threads

Get the proton..i have one..its a solid reliable marker..had it for 4 months and i play every saturday for 6 hours..never chops..easiest to maintain..dont have to worry about internals..just 3-4 drops of gun oil down asa shoot a couple times and inside will be lubed ..bolt it very nice..one piece..tooless.

the complaints on it freezing..never happen to me..1000 shots back to back...is a very unlikley situation

leaking happen to me once when i first got it..but took it to my local pro shop..put some sealant and fixed..havent had problem since

recommended upgrades 14 inch barrel 685 bore and thats it

smooth.low kick.very quiet,fast,on the fly mode switching..tooless bolt,on off asa(which mini doesnt have)..better argonomics

1400 shots off a 68 4500..up to par with most high end guns

overall its better than the mini and has plenty more features

my setup

Valken Proton (gloss Black)with a CP classic 1 piece barrel 14in 685 bore (dustblack) n hater barrel band(str8killas)_Halo With HK army Epic speedfeed_Ninja 68/4500 Grey Ghost with black ninja/exalt tank grip_All Black Vforce Grillz with dualpane mirror lense
