Do you have a good mask, tank and hopper? If not, get those first, in that order. Get the best mask you can afford, nothing under $70, like the proflex, flex 8, profiler, or grillz for the cheaper side. Then get a used 4500 tank, maybe even if its out of hydro for $70. Save up for a hopper, and then get a gun.
Doesn't matter what gun you have, how old you are, what paint you shoot, who your up against, how bad of a day you had... All that matters is that your playing paintball now.

Used Ion: $80

Also how much did your mask cost? Depending on that I would still say get a new one first.

If you only go 3 times a year, its a waste of money to get your own gun...

Yeah, good, high end mask first. Then tank, then loader, THEN marker.
And the mask will be well worth it. I have friends who have 130 dollar masks, but nothing else, and go bi annually on our organized days, and seem to be much more satisfied with at least not having to worry about anything regarding their mask, which is really the only thing you need to play.

if you don't mind a Hell of a learning curve on maintenance look into a used Autococker, they run around $100 and work Fantastic as a normal Rec. Ball mechanical gun.

Yes of course they are worth it! eNVy's are one of the top recommended markers in the sub-200 dollar price range, and the Vibe is the exact same thing, albeit it an older model.

Go used then. Look for a superloader. Rotors can be easily found for 100 bucks.

Cheap refurbished Smart Parts Vibe

Ordered on of these for my son over the weekend.

But, no doubt. Even if you're only going a few times a year. Having your own mask will make a world of difference. May even inspire you to go more often.

I wouldn't say the Pinokio is better than the Scion. If you're buying new, then the Pinokio will be the cheapest. However, the Rotor, Scion, Pinokio and a bunch of others can be had used around the 100.00 mark. Personally, I'd go with the Rotor.

My friend has a scion and it looks like a halo but feeds like a z2. It is hella hard to clean. The pinokio is just as fast and super easy to clean. I'm getting a pinokio in a few weeks. The only thing about e pinokio is that it looks kinda bulky. Hope this helped.

I would recommend a mask first and then is you still need a marker get the Vibe aka eNVy. Depends on the manufacturer what the name is. But it is the best option for an inexpensive marker.

Rotor for speed, durability, and look. Pinokio for battery efficient, more paint storage, and price

Go for the Rotor if you can get it used for a good price. The pinokio is only worth it if you want that extra amount of paint to use.

If you only go three times a year I don't know why you're even bothering shopping for your own gear, and as for going more often if you had your own gear... why not just use that money to go play more paintball in the first place?
I only play paintball so I can tell dirty jokes.
