first shot drop off

when after a while of not shooting your marker the first shot "drops off" because its not shooting at the full 280-300 FPS. most present in spools because of all the engine o-rings they have. the o-rings will somewhat stick to the body and require that first shot to break free. most higher end spools have a first shot drop off feature built in so for the first shot it has a higher dwell releasing more air compensating for the drop off.

First shot dropoff is when the gun has been sitting for a bit, and when you shoot it the first time, it doesn't have full velocity. This is typically a problem in spools, since they have more and larger o-rings in the engine. This is usually fixed by the FSDO parameter of the board, which adds dwell to the first shot after a given period of time.
