Hi I was looking for a apex 2 setup and had some questions. I already wanted a deadlywinds barrel for the inserts then I found out I could put the apex 2 on it. wanted to be able to use the apex 2 for woodsball and large maps while being able to quickly remove it for smaller maps and speedball.

Will the 14 inch barrel be to long with the apex 2 on the end(over 17 inches) or should I go with the 12 inch deadlywinds barrel making it around 15 inches with the apex 2?

Its a bit pointless putting an expensive barrel with a Apex, seeing as the Apex is a bit of a wildcard. If I were you I'd just get the 8" standard Apex barrel, it will come to something like 12" with the tip.

I would get the 14 inch, because you can still have a normal length barrel when you aren't using the Apex. And it is not pointless to put an Apex on an expensive barrel, honestly. It just means that you have an expensive barrel when you aren't using an Apex, and then your expensive barrel is that much more versatile.

Why apex? most of the range you get is useless unless you shoot really brittle paint, but then the nub in the apex might break it

Why not the Apex? It's nice to have in woodsball games, and a lot of people don't want to even risk the bounce from getting shot at decently far ranges, so they just go down. I've been shot by marbs from a dude with Apex a good distance away, and it broke on my shoulder. The extra range helps, and the best part is that he can take it off if he feels he doesn't need it.

Try shooting under overhanging branches without one.

Yeah I was thinking about just having two separate barrels then I realized I wouldn't want to pay the money for a nice barrel system like the deadlywinds only to use it half the time.

Plus the deadly winds reskin shroud for the apex looks sexy:)

I have an apex 2 for my ULE Automag that attaches to my Lapco Bigshot assault. It's nice to have the option even if I prefer it without.

If it is at all possible, try one out. They fit the play-style of some better than others.
