Removed back cap and bolt, cleaned and applied new lube, that's when i noticed metal on metal contact inside the bolt.I removed the gray o ring from the back cap and compared it to the extra that's shipped with the DP parts kit. They are the same size, so that rules out my lube shrinking the o ring.

More Details.

HPA only used

Lurker Lube used on all orings

G5 has approx 10 cases of paint shot through it.

You can clearly see the wear in the photo next to the gray o ringAttached File  Bolt wear 1.JPG   93.75KB   0 downloads

That sort of asymmetrical wear has been happening on a couple other G5s as well, there doesn't seem to be any fix for it so far. Have you talked to Dangerous Power at all yet?

So you got one fresh off the line. I wonder is there are quirks with the first couple hundred g5s released. I would ask dangerous power if they had problems with the first bat or two of these markers. They may take it upon themselves to go through and completely fix everything for you

Update, they will warranty it, just have to provide the receipt. Hope they will just ship replacement parts and save me the trouble of mailing the marker from Canada..Working on those details now..

The tank's pressure is regulated down by the gun's HPR. Whether you were using an 850psi output, or a 450psi output, the pressure in the gun would be the same to get your paintballs to velocity.

I'm willing to bet the wear was always there, it just took a few weekends to wear down the anodizing to a point where you could see the raw aluminum underneath.

Not the case at all, this just happened last weekend..and im only seeing wear on the inside of the bolt. The anodizing is still perfect. Others are reporting that its wearing through the anodizing though...

Guys.... I received an e-mail from DP engineering today as a response to my video. They recommend G5 owners to use a Mid pressure reg on our HPA tanks, they are saying higher pressures will increase the wear & tear on O-Rings and components. Our engineers recommend to utilize tank outputs ranging from 450~650PSI for optimal performance while maintaining efficiency.
So there you have it. Like i thought, pressure is causing a problem..

We still don't know what is causing the problem (regardless of what DP says), and I'm still not buying that the tank reg has any effect at all. Otherwise, what's the point of the gun's high pressure regulator? Whatever pressure you need to shoot at 300fps isn't going to change with different inputs to the HPR.

What I'm guessing they meant is that high pressure air from the tank puts more stress on the body seals, not anything past the HPR.

This page shows multiple tank regs with high and low pressure output, going through a standard HPR. Regardless of the input, the output of the HPR is the same. http://www.ppog.org/...ts/results.html

I am going to guess that one of the two parts the bolt or the back cap were not chucked up true in the lathe when it was turned. I have no evidence of this but just a guess.

Just to be clear, as Andrew has said, the output pressure of your tank reg will have absolutely no bearing on wear inside the marker. That's what your HPR is for.

DP say some really weird things sometimes. Like they also stick their macro line in a pencil sharpener to bevel the edge and claim that it is the correct way to fit the line.

I'm switching over to a ninja pro reg set for 450 PSI output.. I will get back to you in the future and report my findings... I have nothing to loose but take them up on there suggestion ...Perhaps the reg on the gun isn't dealing properly with high pressure ( Say 800 psi) as they expected it to ,or engineered it to ?

The velocity of the gun is a direct result of the pressure coming out of the reg though. If for whatever reason the reg started putting out higher pressures, you FPS would jump.
