Virtue Paintball Mask

It's no secret that the Virtue Spire has been a huge success in the paintball world, a large portion of professional teams that can switch, has switched to the Spire 200 or the Spire 260 loader. So following that success we are excited to hear of the prospect of Virtue bringing their innovation to the paintball mask arena.

Facts about the new Virtue paintball mask are fairly scarce except for a trade mark application, providing the possible name "Optik" but we can not confirm this will indeed be the name. http://trademarks.ju...k-86022525.html

Rich Bianco from Punishers reached out to the top level guy at Virtue - Mike Newman, to scare up some details. At this time however, Mike was not willing to release any design or price details, or any other information on the paintball mask. He would not confirm the name of the mask but here is what he would confirm…His exact words were "Teams and stores will get a first look at this new Goggle at the Paris Millenium event next month. I can't comment on anything else at this time". I think from the trademark application and Mike’s comment its safe to assume we have a new high end goggle on the way!

What does this mean for paintball?

Well it means a successful, player focused paintball company is going to bring us a mask that could potentially change the mask "game" forever.

Paintball masks have always come from one of two places: a big company developing a mask because they already sell everything else or a company redesigning a current design to fit their style or application.

The Virtue Paintball goggle has the potential to deliver in the same way the Spire200 and the Spire260 has, by bringing a high value, player focused product to the market. There is no doubt that the Virtue Paintball Mask will be one of the top level options in the mask industry the day it hits the shelves.

Unlike a lot of companies out there Virtue products have always combine reasonable cost with exceptional value, the Virtue Paintball mask will be no different. We are incredibly excited that our friends at Virtue are bringing this mask and we PROMISE we will be the first ones in line to carry the mask.

Pretty awesome, your thoughts?

Im sure it will be expensive as fuck. Im not a guy that usually complains about price but DAMN. I was screwing around on virtues site checking out the 260 cause I never really looked into it and if you get a regular black spire 260,virtueSF speed feed, and ramp (should be included). Its 260 dollars... IF this mask costs more than the eflex idgaf fuck what they do to it I wont buy it.

Very interesting. On one hand it is always nice to see a paintball company branching out into other areas of products, and on the other hand it's funny because Virtue is kind of late to the table. I think the price will be a major deciding factor here. Like the thing with the Spire is that, yes, it is probably on par with the Rotor but when you add the speedfeed and such it gets to be much more expensive. Time will tell here.

I kind of like neck shots, they give other people the impression that I have a social life.

Price should never be an issue when choosing a mask.  I don't care if it's $250, if it is an improvement in what's out there now and is more to my preferences/comfort I'll pick one up for sure.

if it costs 250+ bucks for a mask it better come with a lifetime replacement of lenses.

I expect competitive pricing. If the quality is on par with other top level mask and the price range is similar then it will boil down to preference.

Although if the price is higher then other mask of the same quality then the only reason to buy the mask is preference.

Also there is always the chance that it might flop.

it better come with several lenses. i used to have transition lenses in my glasses and i found them to be annoying at times, i would rather be able to pick the tint of my lense

We just received more information regarding the new Virtue Paintball goggle that is going to be released shortly. Previously we reported that the mask would potentially be named the Virtue Optik. That is not the case. The new Virtue Paintball mask is going to be named the Virtue VIO, short for Versatile Innovative Optic.

A rep from the company has informed us of the name and even provided us with a sneak peek to the new Virtue VIO goggle logo. He tells us that the VIO “will be extremely customizable.”

I personally spoke with a pro player that had the privilege of seeing the mask in person and he told me that the mask was like nothing he had seen.

We’ll update you as we get more information.

Here is the Virtue VIO logo and teaser of the mask:

Hopefully I did this right, and all the black highlighting goes away...

Anyway, I can't wait to see the rest of this lol they're trolling, showing nothing but the top rim of the mask not even leaving anything for speculation. I hope that the price stays competitive too...

For $250, it better have transition lenses.

For $250, it better have a  futuristic material that is guaranteed to make paintballs bounce 100 percent of the the time

it would be interesting to see what kind of upgrades that will be available for it.  maybe they will create a good mask as a base and then it will have an electronic package option added later on.

I doubt. The eflex fixed all the issues of the proflex and it pretty much owns the market of that type of mask

i meant in terms of customizeability, the proflex could be built up because the ears, strap, goggles, and mask bottom were all separate,

They were really big, and the way they were designed gave them a look of unreliability, like they'd break easily. When it comes to a mask, you need something reliable that will hold together for a long time, like a simple face seal of foam and a simple mask portion. They had individual vent sections, multiple parts to form the front, a lens that was way to big (which I'm guessing had something to do with the ASTM issues). the Angel Eyes looked like a collectors item, not something to be used extensively.

But they were still a prototype, the design wasn't final. The final product could have looked very different for all we know.

The only thing that I didn't like about the angel eyes was that the entire mask was a lens.  Its a personal problem but it bugs the shit out of me when i have marks on my lens, and having on that big I couldn't go a single point with something happening.

Agree x2

The i4 and Grill are almost too stylized and flashy depending on the lenses or colors IMO but the Eyes were a whole 'nother level of gaudy.

I'd like to see more companies do what Angel tried, think of radical new mask designs like the Angel Eyes.

They were solely prototypes, WDP was around long enough to know not to mass produce a product without testing for safety, quality etc of the mask. I don't know if you guys remember them going around events letting people try it on and test it out?

Probably because they were being tested. I doubt that the angel sponsored team got an email from a wdp rep saying that they had to send the eyes back because a ball went straight through the lense...

Saw this on Facebook... Not the greatest picture, but one can certainly see more of the mask than before... unless I missed something...
Roughly translated, (haven't really used my french in a while, lol)
1. Rapidly changeable thermal lens (Just goes over the usual lens stuff, effective against fog and all that.)

2. The VIO can be changed into 12 different colored frames.

3. The bottom of the mask is easily changed, made of a mix of hard and flexible plastic.

4. The foam is easily changed, and clips in to the frame, making it easy to take out and clean.

5. The hinge lock lets you change out the lens quickly by taking off the strap to get at the lens.

6. A normal looking strap IMO.

7. Soft ears, "equally able to personalize", I think maybe just colors?

Didn't see this anywhere else, if it is then my bad

That looks to me like it uses an i4 lens, or at least something similar.

looks cool. If I can afford them, I may have to set my Proflex on the shelf for a while with all the customization.

I'm am thoroughly meh'd right now. TBH, the front vents look almost like something I'd see on a rental or budget designed mask. I dunno, it just doesn't look right.

That seriously looks like a mix of i4s and e vents. I hope they don't start styling all their new stuff as a mix of dye and empire

Looks like they jacked the i4 lens (but made it slightly different so they aren't interchangeable) and made cheap looking, nonflexible proflexes. Not impressed at all. Upset if anything.

I didn't like them at first glance, but then it went through all the colors in the vid and they are growing on me... I think they're going to be really successful if they price it right (it is Virtue, so it will probably be released at about $10-$15 more than the most expensive mask currently out) im going to go out on a limb and guess $129

(Which is a price i don't agree with -not that my opinion matters lol- but i'd really like to see this come in strong competing at $99)

Please be something like the angel eyes, pleeease.

Please, stop asking. Angel eyes were not good masks, and they will never come out.

I am interested to see what Virtue came up with though.

How do you know if they were bad masks? They were never released.

because the lense had teribad issues with cracking and breaking, why do you think they werent released, besides the fact that angel is no more

upset because they're totally forcing you to buy it right? :dodgy: seems like i4s and flexes in one mask. be sides lets be realistic, I4s dont even cover the full jaw line when talking. you have to be a child or have a freakishly small head for them to cover your whole face.
