Hi everyone,

As a lot of you know, I don't have a stable money flow for paintball anymore and I would like to be able to play more often and possibly on a team. Well, I am probably going to start mowing lawns and I would like to know what you think of my flyer. Here it is:

Revised:

TNHjyLg.png

Revised again but I had to cut off the top and bottom of the page because you couldn't see the actual font size if I didn't:

Thanks,

Justin B.

1. Too much writing. People need something they can read and understand in a matter of a couple seconds. It starts out with the title saying lawn mowing, and goes into paintball. That'll confuse people.

2. You don't have to justify your price to people. 25 bucks is a reasonable price, businesses don't explain all of their expenses, and neither should you.

3. Talk more about the task at hand. What do they get for 25 bucks? Just the lawn mowed? Express what they get for their money.

4. Be concise. Get right to it. "My name is Justin, and for 25 bucks, I will mow your lawn, blah blah blah in a timely manner. Job will be done once per week, or as needed, same day, same time. If you are interested, contact me at blah blah blah."

5. White paper with black writing works just fine. The colors just cost more for you to print out.

Sorry if any of this came off mean in any way, not my intention. Hope this helps  :)

No, I didn't come off as mean and I'm glad someone really ripped it apart. That way I can fix it up and make it better. Also, I would be going door to door so keep that in mind.

I don't see the need for a lawn mower... That would look stupid imo

I'd make the font bigger. Take up the whole page, easier and quicker to read.

Ok, also, I would not be collecting the grass in one of those bags that hangs attached to the mower. Can someone tell me what that's called? I think its called mulching.

It's most definitely mulching. Just make it clear and concise.

It's called mulching. You use a stop that spits it back out at the ground. I'd just bag it, no one will want it mulched.

If you are mowing it for people you need to at least use a leaf blower, preferably edge it too. I mow and edge every week, it looks much better that way.

If you don't blow it, it will get everywhere and make a mess.

I usally mulch yards when I do cut yards. If they want it bagged I ask for more $ because it takes you longer to do the job.

This sounds good.

I do have a leaf blower to blow the grass but my edger WAS electric but its broken anyways. I'm only offering the lawn mowing and leaf blowing probably.

The first flier is bad. Say you are saving up for a car or something. Paintball to most people is a stupid game. The people you are cutting lawns for want you to spend that money wisely.

Also, why didnt you make this flier at the beginning of spring? Its near the end of summer. Unless you live in a southern state then landscaping season is practically over.

To me your poster sounds immature. Don't say your name in the main section and leave out the part about getting in someone's way.  Just say what you do. (i.e. " List of services") and how long it should take. Change the cost according to what you are doing. Check what local landscaping companies charge and go cheaper than them.  Cut down the ending ; just put down contact information and a friendly message.

i would not go into why you need the money, no one cares.

i would go into what you will do, and how good you will do it, and what value you bring to your customers. customers probably don't care to much that you play paintball, but they care that they are giving you money to mow the grass. what do they get for there money?

you also do no specify if you are using there equipment, bringing your own etc etc. gas for the mowers/weedeaters? etc etc

Edited by cockerpunk, 13 September 2013 - 01:22 PM.

The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

And yes, Gordon is the sexiest manifestation of "to the front."
