I have a 2011 rail and someone asked if I wanted to trade them for their valken proton but me nor any of my team mates/buddies have shot them. So school me on the good, the bad, and the ugly with the gun.

i beliver it is a spring drivin popit and it has a 12-13 in barrel, the power botton is a tap in the trigger frame, it is fast programable and i believe it has tounment lock. if you get this hold a luke or vanguard demon and feel those if he isent close enough to you to be able to hold it. it is preatty quit, kinda hard on paint in my opion especailly compared to the rail. it is a gun for someone who knows guns decently, it is a better version of a mokal aura. if you like to underbore i suggest the rail, if you play speedball and like to make quick changes, the proton, recball such as hyper ball and speedball with rentals, if your regulated semi, it comes down to your prefrence. the main things are is the proton cant be upgraded much, there little faster bolt but harsher on paint, little less efficent, the grip is alot smaller but further from the trigger frame, and biggest thing for me, not as know or sawed after! hope this  helped alittle. have a nice day.

alot of spellin mistakes :/ oh well

Wasn't just spelling mistakes. The Proton is a spool, not a poppet. And there are better options for the money.

I agree its an upgrade from a rail and some DP's, some say same level as G5 and etek, but just below the reflex rail, etha, and axe. (Most people would say all low/mid range markers are below an Axe and I would agree)

The proton  is actually a sick little gun; that would be my choice for the best <$400 gun

depends what it's like out when shooting. perfectly normal for a marker to get chilly when constantly shooting for that long, and not out of the ordinary to get frosty if it's humid and cold out.

after the 4th pod the barrel starts to get chilled about 650-700 paintballs. pretty normal if you ask me

I've seen that review and it only freezes up if you constantly fire a thousand shots which no one ever does so don't worry about that. Also heard some leak issue just be sure the grip frame screws are tight cus that's where the macro line is

There are better options. I wouldn't trade your rail.

Also, it's like a mini, internal poppet.
