I'm likely going to start designing a spool valve marker. I'm learning more into depth on how they work, blah blah blah.

Here is the list of features I'm currently striving for:

$1,500 Retail Price

Same operating pressure as a DM14 (rumored to be less than current models)

More efficient than a DM with the same buttery smooth shot

OLED board (maybe talking)

Good stock trigger adjustment

Macroless (with an aftermarket kit that converts it to use a macro)

Tool-less or mostly tool-less disassembly

Possible mode adjustments via a smartphone app (On iOS, Android, and maybe windows) [Bluetooth]

Purging on/off ASA

Anything else you guys would want to see?

Already suggested:

NT11 Ergos

Digital Pressure Sensor

Carbon fiber construction

Built in chrono

-It will include all the important parts such as: a barrel, a frame, a bolt, eyes, and orings. Maybe a feedneck if you pay extra, a reg is pushing it.-

What do you want to see in a new spoolie?

A bolt, maybe some o-rings, even some eyes would be nice.

Good call smart ass :dodgy:

nt11 ergos

Agreed 100% I was going to include that in the OP, but didn't want to spark anything about me trying to copy dye.

That seems like an over reaction, how do you expect to produce a quality paintball gun if you can't take criticism? or without a sense of humor apparently.

The humor was slightly funny the first time when Andrew did it, now it's just annoying.

I'll look into that.

Carbon fiber wrapped possibly?

Lol, if I include all the features we've listed and sold it for $1,500, I probably wouldn't make much of a profit.

I want a gun like a VX Clone. A Tube a barrel, frame, feedneck, reg.

Make a body as small as possible and reenforce it with carbon fiber wrap and use a composite for the frame. Utilize the Dye Eye Pipe to streamline the body and bring the weight in under a pound with a DW Fibur Barrel.

Find a way to run something like the Fuse bolt system of a DM without an LPR.

That would be the perfect spoolie.

Essentially give it NT ergos. A VX Profile if not even smaller. and have it weigh less than a pound.

Honestly I like what you are thinking, however, eye pipe probably isn't possible seeing as Dye probably has patents on removable eye/detent systems (although I should check that)

Composite frame is a good idea, fuse bolt system is something I have IRL so I can dissect my DM if need be. Less than 2 pounds is gonna be hard, I think.

Maybe a pump down the road?

Under two pounds is totally possible if you have absolutely ZERO aesthetic milling. Which I am totally fine with. Keep all surfaces as thin as possible without sacrificing structural stability. Hell go in and shave things down to nothing if you can in areas where its not needed.

I'm only in HS, even if this does happen, its a few years away. I'm going to be learning CAD and physics, which should help me. I honestly want to make a marker, but for me to make it alone, it's gonna take a while.

I want to be an engineer, so this kind of project sounds like it will be very fun. And hopefully I'll get one hell of a marker out of it.

Here is the list of features I'm currently striving for:

$1,500 Retail Price--Okay...empire, luxe, macdev, dye, machine,...FOR YOUR OWN GOOD, go to a different price segment. How about $700 or even $900?

More efficient than a DM with the same buttery smooth shot--good luck

Good stock trigger adjustment -- How about a very good stock trigger, without slop, on a marker that does NOT cost a fortune to begin with? That would be nice

Possible mode adjustments via a smartphone app--this is more complication and not superior to a traditional board imo. I don't know about you guys, but the last thing I want in my pocket playing paintball is my nice smartphone that would be over $500 to replace...how about a microusb for detailed tinkering in the comfort of a home, and simple operation for the field (that you could have customized)?

Anything else you guys would want to see?

Already suggested:

NT11 Ergos -- yes and/or hell yes

Digital Pressure Sensor -- need further explanation

Carbon fiber construction --why? I think you'd have much difficulty accomplishing this too

Built in chrono  -- waste unless $1500 marker for sure

As long as the marker works as planned, I should have ZERO problem fighting against the big dogs, the problem is going to be getting my marker to be above their level.

The DM shot shouldn't be to horrible to replicate, but the gun would need an LPR similar to the DM

Triggers are opinion, adjustability makes for a trigger everyone will like.

You wouldn't have to have your phone on the field unless you are changing modes on the field (which is outlawed)

Glad people can agree on NT11 ergos

I'm a little confused with that as well

If I can do it, it could be helpful

That will likely not actually get used.

I would say around $850, because you can find manufacturers for the electronics that are very reliable and cheap. That would cut back on quite a few costs right there, I think (not 100% sure). Also, make it macro (cuts back on costs vs macro less), and you should make it look completely different from high end markers. Honestly, except for some detects and color schemes, they all pretty much look the same to me. What would make me buy your by merely seeing it in a showroom? Now I'm thinking from a business standpoint and not a paintball standpoint. Do as little machining in house as possible. I am going to get so much heat for this, but move manufacturing overseas or to Mexico. Just saying, it is so much less expensive. On the flip side, having it manufactured in America and then really pushing that fact could make it jump out to people.
If you're under 18 and pay for your own stuff, put this in your signature.
On a side note... Royal Highlanders rule!

A good product is nice but you need a market. The 1500 supergun market is saturated and not lacking in what a player paying 1500 would want.

A product only has value if it sells

have it so that it can only shoot a certain type of paint but the paint is heat seeking and flies straight up then down kinda like a cruise missle. ooooh ooooh also have a system link to a mask so that a HUD comes up an tells you how many paintbulletz you haz left. oh oh oh oh and also make it so every time your paintbulletz dont break on the guy, it displays a hit marker. oh oh also make it so when you hold the marker it engulfs your body and turns you into a gundam and have it be trowa's gundam and give it a machine gun from your chest that shoots 14 pods of paint in a second and then and then and ONLY THEN make it so you can overdrive your gundam and turn it into a nuclear paintbombz and insta win the game for you. but you have to get 25 people out without dying first and then you gotta get out and brag bout how sexor your gundam is and super kewl.
