I have the 4S now and I actually miss my old android. It's not that this phone is bad, the android is just better.
I would say get an android, but if you're dead-set on the iPhone, I would go with the 5C as it's a bit closer to an android's capabilities.

WP8 trumps all imo, but if you're going to go with any phone get the top of the line. Even then it'll be outdated in 6 months but at least it will be able to run the newest apps for longer than 6 months.

Now they're selling Iphone 5s! I was debating as to whether I shouild get that or the Android S4 and beleive me after much research and asking around it really made sense to go with iphone 5s. I am more familiar with it. It's fast and love their apps. There are also alot of other reasons such as the fact that it complimets my mac and it actually fits my pocket best and so on...anywyas at the end of the day is your call, so good luck!

In what sense does it make to get an Iphone over the best phone on the market?

The note is nowhere near a tablet. Look up the galaxy mega 6.3

Get the s3 or s4. I have an s2 (old school, I know) and from what my friends have said, they prefer it over their iphone 4s after just playing with it for a little while.

Always best to get the latest version, so iphone 5.  As new updates become available older phones become end of life.  ie.  iphone 3 can't update to ios 7.

btw .... androids are sold as being more customizable however they are not often as upgradeable.  So many exclusive droids out there that neither google, the phone maker or service provider will develope software upgrades for.

Iphone 5c, but then again this is coming from someone who give no fucks about technical spec or software customization. I used to but now I literally just look at amount of apps, build quality, ease of use, and can I get my finger the the top of the opposite side of the screen.

Wait 3 months, there'll be another iphone people are going crazy for with no real updates since the 4G iphone.

If you have to fall into the iphone scam get the 4G, download siri, and spraypaint your case. That is all apple did and you'll save hundreds.

You can't just install siri, without jailbreaking it. All iPhone 4S' come with iOS 7 now and you can't jailbreak iOS 7 yet.

Do not go for the iPhone 5C, the construction feels cheaper than any other phone they have built including the 3G-3GS phones.

If you can, buy an iPhone 5. Most apps are optimized for the 5's processor and screen now.

I don't suggest buying an android because of the little 3rd party support for it.

I also don't suggest buying a windows phone because of it's OS design.

Wait what?

Also Androids make up 82% of all smartphones...

Correction: 81%

Legitimate question or rhetorical?

It just feels cheap. The weight is offputting, it feels like a toy.

Dude... it's a phone. Not to mention it's advertised as a cheap phone, it cost "considerably less" (By apples viewpoint) then the 5s and I assume the 5. and you forgot to put "IMO" at the end of your statement seeing that not everyone thinks it feels "cheap", and that the weight is "offputting"

I had one of the first Galaxy S's, and it ran every app i ever tried to download. Only got rid of it because i wanted an SIII... You can generally get the next version of Android on your phone, and Apps are generally backwards compatible 1 generation of OS's, so that gives you 3 years with the latest apps. This is also the cycle for getting a free phone here in Canada, so i always get a new one when it is out.

Not to mention that when the apps come out on Android the free versions give you more features than their Iphone counterparts... To get the same level of service you'd need to buy the full versions of these apps for your iphone, making it much more expensive to do the same thing.

Not to mention that the iphone 5c only has 90% of what the Galaxy S4 offers and came out 9 months later! (talk about late to market)

As for upgradeable, i have a 64GB MicroSD card in my phone to compliment the 16GB the phone came with... i'd like to see you do that with an iphone! (or change the battery for that matter)

All that said, Iphones are not bad phones, they are just outdated, expensive, un-customizable, and limited in memory the day they come out.

The problem with many Androids are that they are made exclusive for some providers.  ie:  Samsung may make a droid for Bell Canada exclusively.  Often when a newer OS version comes out neither Google, Samsung or Bell makes an update available for this exclusive phone.  Updates include firmware updates and usually exclusive droids have unique internals.  Nobody is paying to update this one exclusive 6 month old phone.  Basically, if the new phone is not listed on a manufacturer's site than updates probably won't be made since it's the manufacturer that does the updates.

Hence ... many droids are customizeable but not upgradeable.
