Not really much custom about it, but figured it would be better here than in equipment advice. So say I wanted to put a Flatline on an Autococker threaded gun, whats the easiest way of doing so? I've thought of just using a 98 to Autococker adapter, and using a 98 Flatline, but adapters like that seem hard to find, and I'm not entirely sure that would work out since the flat line has to be in a specific orientation. Also thought of doing some king of magic with the thread thing that goes inside the A5 body, but I can't figure a way of making that work in a convenient way.

Anyone done it/got suggestions?

Thanks.

Why dont you just use an apex barrel? They are much easier to clean, they are adjustable, you can spin paintballs in different directions... It just seems like an easier solution.

Because you can combine a Flatline and Apex, but you can't combine a Apex and Apex.

there was an autococker that had a flatline on it, but its pretty rare.

You could try and find a barrel adapter

Unless I'm mistaken that wouldn't work since the A5's body is cast and it needed fine threads it takes a barrel adapter in the body, the adapter is replaced by the Flatline, so the A5 Flatline is unthreaded and just sticks in the gut.

if you could machine a block of metal so that it has a slot for the flatline barrel and threads for the marker then it might work. you'd have to cut the block in half to fit the flatline in, then clamp it together to thread it back into the marker.
thats my only idea on how it could work

Get the adaptor. To get it in the right orientation just add (or remove) the barrel orings on it until it fits snug in the right orientation. Simple 10 cent solution.

Machining something is obviously the best solution but probably expensive. I suppose just covering the threads would work, assuming the Flatline fits into an adapter right.

Tried this but couldn't get it to heat up enough to bend. Funnily enough I had the same outcome, I wrecked the barrel and it wouldn't shoot without breaking.

I know he was joking but I bet it would have actually worked if it were bent into just the right shape.

Your cheapest solution may be to buy an old, beat-up m98 and use your modded flatline/apex on it rather than some contraption to make it work in AC threads.

If you really wanted to pursue this on a cocker-threaded marker, perhaps consider a request for proposal in the MCB airsmith section.

Yea, just went that route. Though, I'm wanting to put a Apex on it too, but its the old style Flatline with the stupid looking ported muzzle break that is too large to take an Apex, hope it comes off.

Like has already been mentioned, the A5 flatline barrel does not have threads. It replaces the stock barrel adapter completely.

Even the "Quick Thread Flatline"? It even looks different where it attaches to the gun, not in with tippies so I dunno if that bulky threading is right.

:edit: Nevermind, I'm a dumbass, it's quick thread flatline for the 98's.

Yeah, basically the Tippmann flatlines are out because the A5 one has no threading, and the 98 one would most likely be indexed wrong when screwed into an adapter all the way.

TIppmann 98 Flatlines (if not all of them) barrels are multi-piece assemblies.

The flatline barrel itself (the portion with the bead/sand blasted I.D.) is not threaded and has a fixed muzzle break.  This barrel is slipped into an adapter that threads into the 98 (and presumably the other guns).  The rear of the adapter has the gun threading.  The front of the adapter clamps onto the barrel.  This design allows any barrel to properly index to any M98 body (thread adapter into body, slip barrel in, rotate to 12:00 position, tighten clamp screw).
