You'd think with such an important piece of equipment, someone would get it right. Everyone is no doubt familiar with these.

RvlThEP.jpg

In which case, you're familiar with what an utter piece of shit that yellow thing is. I put a whole fucking pod though my gun trying to chrono it with that pile of shite, I was holding the button, not holding the button, doing it the right way up, upside down, right on the barrel, away from the barrel, infront of the barrel etc. I got it to detect a ball maybe 5 times. I don't need to say any more.

The grey thing is better, reads far more consistently, but not 100% of the time, atleast not for me. Also (just like the other sack of shit) it displays the first digit then the other two on a second frame, which is annoying. Also good fucking luck cronoing a pump with it.

Ahh the red brick, my friend. Simply rest your gun on it and fire away, knowing with full certainty that every shot will be measured with the utmost precision. Every field should have one.

Anyway, chronographs are shitty and annoying, that yellow thing should be banned.

I don't know which grey one you have, but it should display all three numbers at the same time. If it doesn't then you need to call the company and have it fixed.

My home field uses this one, which I believe is a variant of the middle one cookie posted:

It works great and shows the 3 digits. I do agree that any field only offering the yellow one is bull mfing shit.

Yellow one is not bad.

Make sure there is quality batts in it, The back plastic screen is not scratched or blocked by your hand, Tons of people hold it on the back and it blocks the light from detecting the ball (becuase your finger is in the way or something silly)
They are tempermental, and in low light situations they flat out suck, But they are not bad by any means.

That being said, the big red is always good. vitrue clocks are awesome.

I'm thinking of picking up a virtue clock myself and chronoing people myself. The refs at my field never chrono anyone. Just last week it turned out that two guys I was playing against were both shooting 330-340.

Don't play there. What are you going to do? Have everybody report to you and chrono in when they arrive before they are eligible to play? That is what they are paid to do.

The refs at my field don't do it either, there actually isn't any refs. It is a tournament park and everyone is expected to chrono guns and what not. Although I have a few nasty scars from people who haven't.

To OP: I actually like the yellow one.  It works very well for me.

Anyone use a F1 Chronograph before? Walmart has them for near 100$, ANSgear 95$.. It's rated 30fps - 7000fps and I see youtubes of people using real guns, and one with a Nerf gun (lol), but only an advertisment when "paintball" + "f1 chronograph". I assume this would work well, wouldn't it?

Most chrono's I've read about talk about improper readings with indoor lighting.

I have to play there. My options are play there, or play an hour and a half away.

Our field might as well fire the refs, they don't do anything anyways.

Most of the problems with the yellow or grey ones are dying batteries or improper use.  Often people hold it wrong and cover up the back.

these are actually really good at my old teams private airball feild for practice, we had one of these setup and it worked really well.

I picked one up, the actual pb-chrony. It does work well, and I got my friends and my own marker down/up to 300. It's a lil bit of a pain to get the visors set up right, rods don't seem to line up right all the time, but it seems to have 0 issue being under a tree without. Been looking at this one forum a few ago about a rechargable battery hookup mod, instead of buying a 3$ 9v everytime.
