Are you willing to look at used guns, or would you prefer to stick to new guns?

Of course this is assuming you already have a good quality mask, tank and loader.

If you absolutely must have new:

2011 Proto Rail or

GoG eXTCy.

If you're open to buying used, the list grows, a lot.

Proto M8 (PM8, just don't get an '08 PMR, huge difference)

Bob Long Vice w/ Pressure Tester

MacDev Droid (great marker, just maintenance heavy)

those are my top 3 used markers and you can probably find them for around $300. PM8 is my top choice of them.

I would recommend going axe, drone or etek 3-4 for starting out. If you buy new ten the rail with ironman trigger and dye asa (or proto rail maxxed) now that its out and comes with a two piece barrel and an actual case.
If you are under 18 and pay for your gear put this in your sig

Used axe; with a lurker bolt and a new barrelyou're ready for professional level play. You can usually find em used with a lurker bolt for 300-350 or standard for 280-300 depending on the wear. Later on you'll have to get a new barrel usually 30-120 dollars and you're set up for tournaments at any level. So axe, axe axe; it's the cheapest marker you'll see pro teams using in challengers and pro division for psp.

They use axes because they give them the axes, they are sponsored, if they were sponsored by gog they would shoot extcies. But other than that, the axe is a great value but the ergonomics are not for everyone, for me personally, I dont like axes, but the eteks are great for me. For starting out, as i said before, i would go etek or proto rail maxxed with a new trigger. For about 360 you get a great gun, two piece barrel, quiet shot, good simple board, a zippered case, an on off asa, a clamping feedneck, and its not efficient, but for starting out, the most paint you are going to use in recplay, is a loader and 3 pods, which you can do with your tank.
If you are under 18 and pay for your gear put this in your sig

The difference is for the price of an etek; I get a much higher end marker which can shoot 11 pods of a 68/4500 vs. like 7 pods. Coming from the professional scene I know that nearly every player on houston heat carries an axe in their bag while practicing since they know that they are probably the most reliable marker out there. The reason I reccomend it is becuase with an axe and ups you will never need to buy a marker to compete professionally while an etek will just be a stepping stone that's less efficient, heavier, and very unreliable. So used axe.

The Axe is not "much higher end" than an Etek, they're about the same when it comes to quality, fit and finish, etc. Also, pretty much every gun is the most reliable marker out there, that's not really something a gun can say is better than the others.

Also, the Etek is very unreliable? Lol, that's news to me and nearly everyone else.

I am super biased, but if you keep your eye out for an automag rt or 68 classic you just cannot go wrong. they will almost never break you can still get parts through ANS gear. I have had my automag for 6 years and it is a complete beast and I have never had a problem with it. I have a 68classic with a ULE body (takes autococker threaded barrels) and a level 10 kit( newmatic anti chop bolt) everyone who has played with my marker falls in love with it. The Automag RT's are crazy fast when you get the trigger to bounce. My brother has an electro marker and he is always having problems with it.

Well electro markers don't have issues as long as it's moderately modern, and moderately good quality. None of my 4 electros have gone down, and none of my friends have either, at least not due to normal use.

An Axe/Etek is over budget if anything over $300 id say the Etha is the closest.

...... So extcy? Don't confuse the poor kid
