for those who don't know, trying to create an ASTM certified mask is an EXTREMELY expensive undertaking
Molds alone for the rubber, could cost $30,000 each. Need 4 or 5 different molds? You'll need $100,000+
Testing and certification easily runs tens of thousands of dollars
Why do you think, with every mask that is released, the price keeps going up on them. Because less people are buying them, and they need more money to cover their investment
VForce Morph a few years ago was $60, now the Virtue VIO is $150, the HK Mask is $150... see the trend?
Even if you're making $100+ in profit on each mask, how many do you need to sell to cover a $200,000 investment into bringing them into the market?
2,000 masks need to be sold, just to break even. If your profit is only $50 (which is more like it), you need to sell 4,000 masks just to break even on the cost of creating it.
And if the product hits the market and flops (NXE JRNY anyone?), then you're sunk
Pretty much every major manufacturer except for Planet Eclipse is making a mask now. You really think coming out with the Angel Eyez is going to be a good investment? When you've got about 50 other masks to choose from on the market now?
