At Paintball Extravaganza, Azodin debuted a mechanical marker upgrade to their Kaos-D series to match their Zii line release.  Interesting that it has more colors and options than the Zii line or markers.  I rather like the newer colors and styles, particularly the blue and gray titanium.

New colors are: Aurora (pink and purple), Emerald (Green and silver), Titanium (Blue and Gray), Blue King (Blue and Gold), and Ninja (Black).

Features that are new to the Kaos-D line include a new, lighter trigger and rammer, 45 degree angled macro fitting on reg, two piece barrels, low profile on/off ASA, clamping feedneck (!), updated Zero system, and updated poppet valve.

http://www.azodin.co...kers/KDII1.html

The KD-II paintball marker is a refinement of its predecessor Kaos-D, bringing the mechanical markers to a new milestone, once again. With the already reliable Stacked tube blowback(STBB) platform and utilizing the revamped Zero-D low-pressure system, KD-II is now even more air

efficient with an operating pressure of 225psi and higher consistency in every shots. The tool-less ZeRO-D system is now directly threaded onto the body for easier maintenance and reliability. KD-II featured with an improved trigger giving user a lighter and softer trigger pulls ever on a mechanical marker, now beware of the addiction rate of fire from a mechanical semi-auto marker. The KD-II also comes with a clamping feedneck to lock any loaders tight in place, a refined 2-piece 14’’ barrel (.689 bore) for greater accuracy, and the air-flow friendly angled regulator collar. The five combination of dust & polised colors offered are: Emerald, Aurora, Titanium, Blue King, and Ninja.

nice. love my koas

The ultimate truth in paintball is that the interaction between the gun and the player is far and away the largest factor in accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

And yes, Gordon is the sexiest manifestation of "to the front."

I have a standard Kaos I replaced the crap airline with Macro and a decent asa thing is a fin little gun to shoot. Thing is a great gun to have thrown into the gearbag when you need it.

I might just have to buy one of these.

Zephyr is now selling these in their online store for $199.  That's ten bucks more than the opening price for the original Kaos-D.  While the features are significantly improved, I'm not sure how I feel about the price when the GOG eNMEy is $70 less and direct competition for mechanical sales.

199.00 does seem a bit high for what is still a stack tube blow back.

A friend mentioned to me this morning that the Blitz Evo and KD-II are the same price, and after checking I see that sure enough he's right.  I think the Blitz Evo started higher - maybe around $230-$250? - so there's hope that the KD-II will come down in price, but that's a hard argument to make in a tradeoff:

With the Blitz Evo you get an automated sear, lighter trigger pull, and multiple modes of fire.

With the KD-II you get a two-piece barrel, clamping feedneck, 45-degree reg swivel, and the zero system.  As a mech-lover I'd normally gravitate to the KD-II, but I'm not sure those features get you to the price point.  I hope it comes down soon after the initial release.

Also, it looks like the other major market competitor, the eNMEy, is now up to $150.  So I guess the question I wonder is whether someone would pay $50 more for:

1. Two-piece barrel

2. Macroline

3. All-metal construction

4. More efficiency

5. Simpler maintenance

6. Colors vs. black

7. on/off ASA

I think the answer is, "Probably. Some. That are okay with a STBB platform", but if cash is king then the eNMEy will continue to hoard market share.

A new video has been posted that shows shooting of the KD-II.  The video owner states that he gets 9 pods from the KD-II with an operating pressure of about 200psi.  He self reports (on pbriot) that the paint he was using broke in both an Etek 4 and a Crossover before firing without breaks from the KD-II.

If 9 pods is reliable and the Zero-D system is even more improved upon than the Kaos-D's Zero system, then I think maybe the $50 premium is worth it.

For $50 more you can get an eXTCy and for $70 less you can get an eNMEy.

Not sure how many of these they plan on selling.

The eXTCy and eNVy have been discontinued.  It won't be much longer before they're scarce.  Also, the price of the eNMEy has gone up to $150.

eXTCy price has gone down because they are no longer manufactured and the dealers are clearing inventory.  On the other hand, Zephyr Paintball is now selling the KD-II with a V-Max and a 48/3000 tank for $200.  That's a tank and loader free.

Awesome Marker! just used it all this last weekend with no problems other then the barrel. The stock barrel is listed as a .689 but after using a bore caliper found this particular one smaller (682). After a few barrel breaks I swapped barrels with no issues after that.

Humidity had caused the paintballs to swell I think. I should of taken a picture of it happening on the field, the paintball would get stuck in the barrel intact and the second ball would come through and break it.

The field paint isn't horrible paint though, Its GI sports competition paint. The paint shot fine through my mini that has a 689 barrel. The paint is supposedly ECO, not sure if that would do anything to make it swell so bad.

I own this marker and I can very confidently say that it is a great buy. Until any of you shoot it please do not compare it to a GOG marker. The KD-II is easier to maintain, has better air efficiency, less O-rings, more color options and a bunch of other better items out of the box. I have shot 1 1/2 cases of paint through it without any breaks or any problems with the KD-II. I have shoot both the GoG envy and excy and they are great beginner markers for the cost, but they are also more complicated to maintain compaired to any STBB especially one from Azodin.

Just my opinion, iPS
