I am sick of every local field selling hotbox as their basic field paint.  It never breaks and it's basically monsterballs.  I got hit directly in the forehead last week and it bounced.  If it bounces off the hardest part of your body that says something.  Today, I played at least ten games and got hit with at least twenty (everyone as ramping) balls. Not a single one broke.  It's not even fun when the paint doesn't fucking work!

Is that all they offer? Mention it to the manager, you may have to pay more for a quality paint.

It's probably how they store it, most fields don't stick their paint in nice climate control rooms, at least the fields without stores attached.

We get Spectrum and Hotbox as our basic paint. We get 50-100 cases a week at my field. Our D4 and D3 teams use it for practice every weekend,

I have never had a single complaint about it being bad/hard/bouncy.

We store it in our proshop at about 70* with 0-10% humidity (LV,NV). Hell, I've left it out in an open caddy for a week and it was still brittle.

Check the manufacture date on the box. If you go to a small/out of the way field it may be old.

Aim for the mask and gun. That's the way it works. Also keep in mind better paint=higher cost.

Also people may nkt be rotating that pods or storing their paint during the day of play. Cant di much ti change that sadly other than informing them that keeping it in a cooler, esoecially one with ice, will significantly lower the number of bounces they get on others.

The manager is a huge cock he wouldn't even loan me a piece of tape when the battery cover on my halo broke off.  And I buy Draxxus midnight not that bullshit field paint, it's the other players shooting me with it that pisses me off.  They only sell better paint by the case the only one by the bag is spectrum.

Both of the fields that I know to use that paint don't have any climate control.

I'm not.  I had been there once before and I already had bought a groupon for my friends and I to go.  I will never go there again.

I stopped using Spectrum as our field paint in part because of the bouncyness. They really went down hill when Kee bought them.

Graffiti is pretty thick shelled.  Not a brittle paint.  Great shooter and great bright fill.  Too many bounces compared to redemption.

Me too, it does leaves welts and bruises.

Our Graffitti has a nice balance between not too brittle but not too tough, I consider it a very good paint for the cost. Any time we get redemption it just seems too brittle for its own good.

Graffiti seems to be durable enough for mag fed and woodsball.  The fill is amazing and it shoots accurately enough.  It won't break from shoulder height when dropped.  I was having too many bounces with it, supposed to have been fresh stuff too.

Redemption is brittle which is why I love it.  Not for magfed and might even break in the hopper if you take a dive.  I haven't had any problems with barrel breaks(knock on wood).

I guess we're unlucky, every batch of Redemption we get will blend in hoppers, blow up in breeches, and turn to soup in barrels regardless of what equipment gets used. On the other hand, our Graffitti seems to perform well with the waist high drop test, but won't break in the guns.

I kinda want to know why it's such a reversal on the paint between us, and we're both in California too. I'd love to be able to shoot legitimate brittle paint, but we can never seem to get anything higher than Graffitti to act right.

Wow.  You up north?  What's your average temp on the field?

We are at 90+ every time.  All the normal guys are switching to redemption since Dye CG is almost done.  We won't touch Graffiti.  It used to do what you described last year, almost a tournament level ball and then seemed to change to a thicker shell.

I'm sure a lot of it storage/transport.  Seems to effect paint the most more than anything else.

I'm about halfway between LA and the bay area, I'd say we're a slightly milder version of LA area weather. It usually tops out around 80-85ish when it gets really hot, but it's never humid. We do a pretty good job of keeping all the paint in a cool storage shed that never gets hot, so I dunno.

We use GI "field" at my field.

SSDP.

Considering I have to pay $60 a case, I'm really starting to debate buying a case of redemption from ANS instead, and sneak it in. Technically fridays are "BYOP" days, but I never go on a friday. Thankfully I have opaque pods, so they wouldn't be able to tell unless I dumped paint.

Sneaking in off field paint at a FPO facility is wrong.

I understand it isn't a very good thing to do, but when the employees play on their day off, they bring paint because they don't wan to use the shitty field paint.

I sneak my own paint in for three reasons:

1. Someone who works at the field was rude to me

2. The field paint is shit

3. I bought the paint at the field the last time I was there and they wouldn't let me use it (refer to reason 1)

I know fields that sell a case of formula 13 for $65 and are FPO.  Like what the actual fuck?

Lol, I wish we could get formula 13 for $65 up here.

Marbs are about the best we can get, for $70 a case. and by the time they get up here, they are pretty hard. Most will bounce from dropping at head height, but they atleast shoot straight.

Jesus... we can bring out own paint.

Local proshop-

Dye CG $45- not too many cases left

Redemption- $40

Graffiti- $40

Premium-38

Crusade-35

Because of my lower prices I feel inclined to shoot more.

I can get Evil at our field for $45 which isn't bad at all either.  It's always spotty if they have it so I don't chance it anymore and go to the proshop instead.
