Which used high end markers (preferably under $500) would be the best buy?

Not nearly as imple as saying the "best buy." If there was no one would buy any other marker...

What qualities/features are you looking for?

In my collection the smoothest and most reliable markers are my Marq and my PM8.  My vote would be a PM8 or a DM9 or higher in your price range if you want a spool, or something from the Marq line if you'd like a poppit.

They are not down to the $500 mark yet...

Personally I would get a G6R, astonishing looking, incredible efficiency, OLED board, and Bob Long customer service is top notch as well.

Insights are also ~$500 mark, insane efficiency for a spool.

Ehh, although the insight is a very nice marker and I would obviously get one, I don't find them to be as nice as the g6r platform

I have to agree. I think that the insight price continues to drop because people have this mindset. It's a very good shooting marker, now that they have all the quirks worked out, but I'd take a G6R over it.

The Impulse has also dropped to the 500-600 dollar price point, and preforms rather well, despite its unpopularity

they are really solid shooters i think KEE made a mistake taking a product from a company like smart parts that did alot of things people didnt like, and packaging it under jt a brand that had been known for shitty walmart guns in the last few year. i think it would have been better to release it under the empire name and release a solid low to mid range gun under the jt name first. just my 2 cent. on the bright side i honestly think that the impulse is a steal at 600 new.

Well what was xsv going shoot then? Axes?

Not to mention on TOP of using the SP patents that KEE bought to make the jt impulse (what kee can't make guns that they bought the patents to?) . Guess who makes these new impulses... GoG (former SP)

im not saying they cant and hey axes can get the job done to lol. i personally dont have a problem with smart parts loved my ion, love my shoebox impy and  right now deciding between this jt impulse and a shocker for my next gun. all im saying is that your average consumer hears JT and ( other than thinking proflex) thinks cheap walmart guns. they hear impulse and thing smart parts who we all know gets bad mouthed for the mistakes they have made as a company and even if its on a subconsious level think negatively. If they already have negative thoughts about it then why give it a chance over the guns in its price range. even gog who are making good products in the price range has a hard time overcoming the stigma of smart parts with alot of people.

to the op especially if you have something to shoot right now dont rush buying something new try to hold if not shoot as many of the guns in your price range and buy what feels the best in the hands and comes closest to what you want out of a gun. and do your research. if it was me personally id get a used axe the are pretty quiet have a nice balance between a smooth shot and efficiency and imo feels good in the hand ( i like the thicker fore grip)

Really, really, REALLY bad marketing on Kees part. Using the JT name and then in their ads all they did was list features like "blue OLED board!" and "on/off lever ASA!" Well woo-fucking-hoo; with marketing like that its amazing anyone out there actually bought any at all. Luckily there were people that knew how sweet the 09 was and/or were willing to try the new one out.

using the JT name was my original point i think that was a mistake but your other points make alot of sense. telling me about features that should be standard with any high end marker wouldnt motivate me. but from what i heard it  is a marker right up my ally and the fact that no one is selling theres says something in my opinion

oh i see well i do think JT should move away from the walmart specials I just think that a high end marker was a bit  ambitious. i would have started with a mid  or quality low end. what id like to see them do is some quality soft product from them again gloves pod packs ect. oh and ion a side not id like to see a mid range like 600 buck shocker from gog lol

Geo's seem to be a common gun for sale used these days. You can usually find them for around 400.
