I was thinking of getting a cheap spool just to have one since i already have a poppet. What would be a good choice for around $200 used would be fine, i was looking at the extcy or rail. I'm doing this so i have experience with both styles so when i upgrade i can either get a high end spool or poppet.

Dm4s go for about 150, you only get 5 pods and they weigh a ton but it will shoot pretty much the same as a dm14

I would seriously look into a used Shocker. Keep in mind that you will most likely go over your budget with one, because upgrading and customizing them can be addicting. The parts just seem to multiply.

Shocker or DM6. Easily the best in the price range.

get a rail over an SLG. SLG's were extremely bad, theres a reason why they don't make them anymore.

So what about the proto and etha i understand its a "pull poppet spool"  which translates into the worst of both worlds.

Not even. The Etha can be looked at like an automag without a sear. The "pull poppet" is what opens the dump chamber pressure to the bolt, and the action of the bolt is 100% spool. It's a fine system.

Well maybe i'm not entirely sure but i still have like $100 i got for doing good with high school classes during my 8th grade year and airsoft is the big thing now so i'm also looking at a better airsoft marker since the marker i have now is pretty good, i just want the luxury of playing with a spool.

Play paintball more? Better to use it to play than to get redundant gear.
