I have heard many ways to get into shape to play tourny ball. Some people tell you to lift weights. Or go run around in a circle. Forget about all of that garbage. Paintball is all about cardio. Go hop on your bike and go for a long ride. This is a healthy activity for your body. Especially for your heart and lungs. It is not as hard on your body as lifting weights or as boring as runing on a treadmill. By riding your bike it burns calories and improves your breathing And it builds lean muscle. Go try it for 2 weeks. Then go play paintball. You will see an improvment.

I agree. You don't need to be buff to play paintball. You need the energy to run to cover and be on your feet for many hours. Even though biking is good for you, I say you should change it up by walking/jogging the same route.

That's something I'll work on this summer. That and my tan...

I recently started biking regularly in an effort to take better care of myself as I'm getting older, and noticed a big difference in the amount of energy I had left over after a good game at my local field.

Great way to meet people too.

your right. biking is fun and works your legs wich is what you need most for paintball(in my opinion). I ride to my grandparents and bike 2 or 3 times a week because they only live about a mile up the rode and i always feel ready to play!
A good friend will bust you out of jail, but a GREAT friend will be sitting in the cell with you saying, "Man, that was fun!"

Def agree w/ the changing it up. The best thing you can do is to do more than one cardiovascular workout. If you can swim that will be one of the best for building stamina and strength w/o adding mass.

swim one day, bike another and then do some running/jogging or walking. That way you'll work more of your body as well.

Another perk of riding a bike is it trains your core. But also its good to do some arm muscle building exercises with it. I've got a friend who does nothing but ride bikes and hes got huge legs but...nothing upstairs.

another great exercise is swimming i think it is one of the best next to biking in works out your whole body and helps you breathing tremendously because if you are swimming correctly wou have to hold your breath.

i used to bike home from work about 7 miles and then swam a bunch of laps in my pool it was refreshing yet exercising

Yes cycling is good for your long distance stamina, but what you really want to be doing is ALOT of Fartlek training which is good for most sports such as football (soccer) because they are stop start, i.e. periods of intense activity (sprinting) followed by periods of less intense activity like jogging or in the case of paintball, sitting behind a bunker...

So if you are cycling, keep a constant pace... then if a hill comes up really push up it... then settle back into your pace

Just cycling a long distance at the same intensity won't be as effective as this.

Damn dude. Im going to start riding my bike today. I weigh 200 pounds and im 5'8. As you can tell I am overweight.
Ima ride my bike around my block about 4 times, thats like 2 miles or at least 1 1/2. Later today my dad is taking me to the gym and ima ride there spin bikes. I have to get in shape for paintball, I cant always be a back player, I wanna move my ass up to 50 by break lol.

Thanks bro for the thread!
