I was wondering which gun costs less - now, I know that the mini is 50 dolalrs more expensive to begin with, but my question is about upgrades. I have read on some proto forums and other places that the back cap needs to be upgraded and an ultralite frame is a must becuase the trigger is a little weird. My questions are: Does the mini need any instant upgrades out the box? Which gun is better stock?

I own both markers. The PMR did need the backcap right away but the original frame wasnt too bad. I eventually got the UL frame but I dont think it was a must. I still prefer to use my Mini over the PMR anyday. My Mini has worked flawlessly since it came out of the box

The UL frame isn't necessary...it is just a comfort preference. you are right though, the trigger is pretty awful on the PMR, but you can buy a single trigger without the UL frame. I love my PMR even though it may act a bit quirky at times. The mini was too small for my hands for me to be comfortable with it

The back cap you should get right away but the UL frame you dont really need. I have a PMR and I have the stock frame on it and I can shoot pretty fast. When I play against my friend on the field he thinks I ramp. LOL.

In my opinion i think both guns are good. the only thing on a pmr you will have to replace your back cap. If you chose not to then you suffer from the risk of the bolt shooting back into your face, which really dosent seem pleasent..In the other had if your buying a mini make sure you buy a v2 because the v1s were having problems with leaks and all, so becarefull the rest is your desicion depending on the position you play. . the mini is a really tight gun small and low key which is excellent for a front player. it all depends on your prefrence

as far as the mini being to small, i'm over six feet tall and haven't had a problem. it does take a day to get used to though, which isn't bad at all

The PMR trigger frames (stock or UL) are actually smaller then the Mini frame. I have fairly big hands so I also thought the Mini felt really weird when I first got it, you just need to know how to hold it. Now I cant stand how my PMR w/ UL Frame feels. Its really just about getting a feel for it. Overall its just a personal preferance.

thanks for the input guys, i also have another question, does the mini have a variety of upgrades? or is it pretty much what comes in the box? I have looked around and haven't found much, maybe i'm just looking in the wrong places. Outside of the barrel, what else can be upgraded on the mini?

the bolt can be upgraded but I haven't seen any difference in performance.Virtue makes a board but it isn't really necisary. It already comes with a clamping feed neck and you can't upgrade the asa.A lack of upgrades isn't really an issue since the v2 guns seem to work great out of the box, but,it does limit your options on making your gun LOOK better.

The PMR SE (319usd) does not need any upgrades out of the box, I can't understand why people buy the PMR and then put a barrel, backcap, trigger, trigger edge, feedneck on there: Congrats, you just wasted like 100 bucks.
