besides the obvious spoolie vs poppet,

Which will have better customer service?

which has better packaging? (assuming the nt comes as the dm's do and the ego comes as previous egos have)

which will hold its value better?

board differences?

AGAIN, I know one is a poppet and one is a spoolie!!!

So don't just write personal preference or something like that... If I'm going to spend that much money on a marker I want to know which is overall better.

I'd take the ego, unless I shoot an NT and it really feels like its price tag.

planet eclipse

which has better packaging? (assuming the nt comes as the dm's do and the ego comes as previous egos have)

planet eclipse hardcases beat soft cases from dye

which will hold its value better?

possibly the nt because its a "new technology" gun

board differences?

pe board comes with a massive screen :D dye nt doesnt..... sorry but for a 1500+ gun you shouldnt have to program via flashing lights...

also im guessing the ego 10 will come with training mode which is a huge thing with ego's... allows you to practice trigger walking at home.... and trigger setup.... for me at least :)

I'd go with the Ego if I were in your position. Or pick up a DM9 for $850 at cup.

You gotta be careful. Don't just go in there with hopes you'll be done in a few seconds, take time, make designs, put your name in it. Whatever. It gets the job done, and you feel good after, knowing nobodycan steal your junk, because your name is engraved in your manhair.

the dye nt shoots nothing like a luxe its got a very weird feel to it the noise it makes just doesnt match the gun firing its hard to describe but it doesnt shoot as smooth or quiet as a luxe or dm9 but its very fast and effient and it looks really cool. overall its a great gun but if your looking for a super smooth shot get the dm9 or luxe or if you can find one, pm8

So you just walked up to Billy Wing and asked if you could shoot his gun? I really doubt it. Sure, you could've seen something shooting, but it may not shoot anywhere near the way it sounds. I'd heard Luxes before I'd shot them. I assumed they're the smoothest shooting gun out there right now. Not even close. I'll try get a video, but my friends DM8 shoots noticeably smoother than my friends Luxe.

I fail to see how the NT is new technology. Rather more of a combination of existing tech.

Just commenting from an outside perspective. I have done stuff like this before... most paintball pros/ semi-pros are pretty cool people and will let you mess with their gear and possibly play a game or two with it if you ask nicely. Not really all that uncommon.

Edited by GrenadeMaster, 19 September 2009 - 08:42 AM.

There's two kinds of people in this world when you boil it all down. You got your talkers and you got your doers. Most people are just talkers, all they do is talk. But when it is all said and done, it's the doers that change this world. And when they do that, they change us, and that's why we never forget them. So which one are you? Do you just talk about it, or do you stand up and do something about it?

I am really impressed with the NT. I prefer EGO's hands down over Dye markers. The NT just seems to be bad ass! The ego is pretty much the same (looking at least).

I'd go with the Ego if I were in your position. Or pick up a DM9 for $850 at cup.

The Luxe is the best gun ever made... it's not a dressed up shocker. Differences between Shocker and Luxe:

Quietness: Luxe by far, it has a smaller, lighter bolt
Kick: Luxe by far, it has a smaller, lighter bolt
Ease of Maintenance: Luxe by far, to clean the eyes and bolt it's completely tooless
Board: Luxe, no competition, it talks to you
Weight: Luxe
Feel: Unless you have ridiculously short arms and small hands, Luxe
Simplicity: Luxe, degas the gun toolessly, clean most of it toolessly, no macroline, board that says what mode your in, etc.

Now onto parts of the gun.

Bolt: Luxe
Feedneck: Tie
ASA: Tie I believe
Reg: Luxe
Macroline: Luxe...
Barrel: Tie
Reg: Luxe
Trigger: Luxe
Trigger frame: Luxe

So obviously as you can tell the Luxe didn't win one category, it has a softer, and quieter shot, it has amazing feel for snap shooting imo, it's lighter, the board is amazing, just everything on the Luxe is so much better than on the Shocker, with the exception of things like feedneck and ASA. Honestly there is no competition, it's like comparing an Ego to an Etek. You have obviously not owned, or even shot a Luxe.

You said it yourself..in your opinion

No macro-line is HORRIBLE for diagnosing your marker, before you say I havent shot a luxe, I have

I could care less that the board talks to me, seems like it would make it HARDER to go through modes that way, because you have to wait for the board to start talking, and what if the speaker blows?

The reg on the luxe is in the vibe...woohoo great reg..

And also, the magnetic eye system thing, is bad, I heard of people blowing the eye cover off in the middle of a game.

Trigger is better, shocker triggers are horribad.

lcd screens arent necessary... but if im forking out $1200+ for a gun i expect it to have a few things that make life easy

lcd screen being one of them. they allow for quick and easy programming, battery indicators, all kinds of stats for you to go back through, game timers not to mention you dont have to wait for a sequences of light blips to program your board which saves time.

also led's have much more chance of burning out than the lcd screens do

voted for the nt for 2 reasons

1. its a new design as opposed to the ego10 or dm10
2. its super light and gets 1500 shots off a 68/45

although its resale like all dye guns will be crap a few months down

LOL. The luxe is useless IMO.

If you want a luxe, get a impulse.

Why?

They shoot similar, impulse is more efficient, easier to adjust the LPR, still tool-less eye covers that you will never lose, same grips, same frame, same fore grip, same asa, same feedneck, same barrel, same trigger, same board(just has no sound), easier/lesser maintenance, impulse wins in my book.

Oh and you were making such a good argument. I love LCD's hands down, but there's no way you can say a LCD is more robust then a LED.

Got to check out an impulse couple weeks ago and I really liked it too. UNTIL....... The feedneck is held on by these TINY TINY little set screws that are under the eye covers. The guys feedneck was already loose and IMO it was a totally blatent point of failure. TOo bad too, I was really digging some of the feature on it. But untill they fix that MAJOR issue I would even borrow one of my friends in fear of breaking it.

He said he tightened it, but it would rapidly come loose again. Maybe the new ones you held were so new they hadn't come loose yet, but I think holding on a feedneck with set screws is all around a bad idea.

I have a Planet Eclipse marker and i have never had a problem with the customer service. and the packaging one a PE marker is phenomenal. But when your talking about the 2 most prestigious marker manufacturers in Paintball it is splitting hairs to decide which is better.

True, however, I highly doubt they would make a design like that, test it, and not find it to be problematic enough to change it.

I went ahead and got the ego 10 for three reasons:

The screen

The hard case

The customer service.

I have heard nothing but good things about the PE customer service whereas the dye service seems to be hit or miss at best. Thanks for all the help!

Luxe is crap, it's a dressed up shocker. I can already tell you the NT is going to shoot just like a Luxe.

I'd go with the Ego if I were in your position. Or pick up a DM9 for $850 at cup.

Which will have better customer service?
Dye and Planet Eclipse are both great
Tie

which has better packaging? (assuming the nt comes as the dm's do and the ego comes as previous egos have)
The only difference in packaging is you will get a tools with the ego.
Ego10 Wins

which will hold its value better?
Dye Guns Hold there value longer than egos
NT Wins

board differences?
Ego has LCD screen. NT has to go trough grips and look at blinking lights.
Ego Wins

besides the obvious spoolie vs poppet,

Which will have better customer service?

which has better packaging? (assuming the nt comes as the dm's do and the ego comes as previous egos have)

which will hold its value better?

board differences?

AGAIN, I know one is a poppet and one is a spoolie!!!

So don't just write personal preference or something like that... If I'm going to spend that much money on a marker I want to know which is overall better.

Now that they both have come out, ( I shot both) I personally don't mind not having LCD screen but it's all personal both guns shoot amazingly well and it comes down to what feels better in your hand, do you like a poppet or a spoolie. It's whatever you like better they shoot equally wellAttached File  Pballer23logo2.jpg   38.21KB   8 downloadsAttached File  Pballer23logo2.jpg   38.21KB   8 downloads
