Ah, okay, so it was the c clip and not a snap ring?
Mine actually has an E-clip. There are actually three main types of c-shaped retainer clips. Most people these days try to lump these all together as "c-clips", but that is incorrect. Allow me to educate you gentlemen.
c-clip variants: Generally, these do not flex, but they can occasionally. Non-flexible (solid) c-clips are designed to fit into a groove on a shaft, where the shaft gets inserted into a socket covering the groove, which does not allow the c-clip to fall out. Flexible c-clips work the same as an e-clip.
(flexible c-clip right, solid c-clip left)
e-clip: These are flexible clips designed to snap into a groove around a shaft. They are removed by inserting a prying tool into the small detents on the opposite side of the "c" opening.
snap ring: External snap rings are installed in a groove around a shaft, just like an E-clip, but they are removed by expanding the ring with a set of external snap ring pliers. Internal snap rings are installed into a groove on the inner surface of a cylinder, and are removed by compressing the ring with a set of internal snap ring pliers.

Good Lord Almighty in Heaven, I hate that with a passion. Both "yes dear" and "fine" usually mean I'm gonna catch hell for at least two days.
Yeah.........a married man never wants his wife to be "fine".
The only thing I hate to hear more than "fine" is when she says "Chuck, how does this look". Man, that's always a no win situation for me.
Tell me about it. I put an end to that "how do I look in this" shit years ago. We decided that it was in everyone's best interest to decide that her judgment would always be infinitely better than mine in all situations that didn't involve machinery or tools. Therefore asking this question would be irrelevant, since she knows better.
Feel free to give it a try. You make her feel better because she gets to think she calls the shots, and you don't have to catch hell.
