I love how easy it is to kickstart with twintips, going from full size GS skis I can bend them like nothing. I like my Masterminds, they can carve but they're forgiving for my sloppy landings. I think I should take a freestyle lesson at some point.

What can you do? tips for spinning. Make sure your head stays tuned though out the rotation and once you have spun all the way around spot your landing. For sliding on boxes lead with your front edge kicked slightly out. Boxes and rails involve a lot of falling down.

When i ski on them i push into the snow and it turns fine but when i hit ice i just have to stomp landings or slide out.

Ski Ward had fresh powder today... LOL. All 200 vertical feet. Wasn't too bad for racing though, course maintenance peeps kept it nice and slick.

Damn. Ski ward with pow is something.

I'd love to learn how to do some freestyle stuff, but I don't have any skis to use in the park. I'm thinking of getting some twintips at some point though.

I sort of wish our school still had ski races. The season ended about 3 weeks ago, but we've had plenty of snow and spring sports don't start till the end of March.

School ski races are only fun because of the people. As far as the format, meh. At least in our league. 1 modified GS run ain't no fun, I'd rather do 2 real GS runs or 2 slalom runs. It is nice in the aspect of we're not there too late, but still.

And yeah, Ward with powder was interesting. Straight lined the whole hill and just naturally came to a stop at the entrance to the lift line. It was hilarious watching my friend in shit in the pow on his slalom skis, I dunno why people free ski on their race skis. Especially at Ward, wax is so important, as is skating to the 3rd gate and then tucking the rest of the way if it's a GS.

Yeah, I liked it because of who was there. Blue Hills is OK to race on, because it's steeper than Ski Ward, but the runs are still only like 30 seconds.

Do you only race modified GS for your school?

How did you win with two 38's? The best times are usually in the 30's for us.

Who were you racing against?

A 38 is in the 30's? Don't forget about seniors, and unless they set a fucking laser straight course you could not get a flat 30 at a Blue Hills slalom. The best kid in our league who's a senior and a like a 30 point USSA slalom racer (ridiculous) only beat me by like 3 seconds. I usually run a 27 at Bradford for slalom, and he got like a 23.9, so I'm not slow either.

you can still hit jumps and do skier cross. Rails on traditional mount just doesn't work too well. you can get twin tips for cheap. if your just starting out go with some k2 silencers press. There cheap and by the time you snap them you will want to upgrade to a armada ar7 or thall.

Yeah. Wasn't that hard of a course. I would have had a 32 or a 33 if I didn't fuck up really bad on the last flush. (Clipped a gate, lost a ski, then straddled the next gate. End result: DNF)

throw in a grab then. Also look up craigs list and some kid will have his twin tips up for sale cheep. Do want lib tech skis! Dat mange traction! They have a wavy sidewall that cuts into ice. If it works as good on a snowboard (rode a lib tech board with mange traction) as a ski than shit is cash.

for jackets it just mainly comes down to how steezy you want to look. Any major brand will keep you dry but not necessarily warm. I wear a hoodie under my jacket and that alone is enough to keep me warm.

I actually don't like kick in kickers. If its just a straight jump its easier to spin off of and butter off of. Basically a smooth transition is best. Flow is good.

Well. I say lets (whoever still frequents this forum) bring this thread back.
It has been a LONG time since I've checked this thread or even been on TechPB, a lot of change has been going on in my life...

Anywho I suppose I should give an update.
I started skiing again instead of snowboarding, as I skied for 3 years before I started snowboarding, and realized I liked skiing way more last year, so all of last season I was skiing.
I hit up multiple mountains, I went to Mammoth (CA), Big sky (MT), Bridger Bowl (MT), and Whistler (Canada). This season I'll be hitting up Big Sky and Bridger Bowl 100% positive, and I have to decide between going on a scuba diving trip (I am an avid diver) to Mexico, or take another ski trip with my father to Whistler. Going to be a tough decision.

Well, thats pretty much it as far as skiing/snowboarding goes for me. I'm picking up my season pass to a local hill this weekend.
