I tried snowboarding once. It was a bad time.

You gain a lot of mobility when skiing. You don't have to stop all the time and strap in all the time, traverses don't suck as bad, and skiing is a fuck ton more forgiving. Two edges gives you some forgiveness if you star fucking up.

Become a pro, ski the ice coast. Also tree skiing out here in incredibly tight. We have a shit ton of trees due to our low elevation.

I feel ya. Here in Minnesota one of the (arguably 'the') most extensively equipped park has a vertical of about 200ft. With a rope tow, that means you can literally take a run a minute, which sounds nice until you realize that everybody else can to, meaning that every feature has been hit hundreds, if not thousands of times by noon. Dropping off a box into a 2 foot deep ice trench is less than enjoyable.

Been boarding for nearly a month on the glacier now, scary shit when you see 100m deep crevases.

But i'm being paid to go to Val D'isere for 5 days to see what the skiing is like and show the guides how to do their jobs.

Welcome to boyne! where everything is super corporate.....Luckily your in snowmaking and your not being watched 24/7 and you probably don't need to memorize the lame boyne basics. At sunday river we got 31 trails open with six lifts open this weekend.

I have seen pics from europe with the snow storm you have been talking about. I wish I could get some natural snow over here on the eastern US. Over here we flip the fuck out for 1ft/30cm. We do have a shit ton of snowmaking snow that can be made so terrain parks are friggin bomb out here.

had a friend want to do one ofthe XL jumps on the hills for our first ride out. I was like "no broniggans, you NEED speed to hit the ramp, if your to slow you wont hit over the table and you will perilously injure yourself. also DO NOT tuck your arms in, spread them out so you slow your angular velocity. else you will start to rotate against your will"

He hit the hill not fast enough and kept his hands close to his body, rotated sideways and wiped out breaking BOTH wrists.

Loon should be getting their park up by christmas, tempature dependent... last i checked loon was up to 26 trails... we were pushing 6000 gallons a minute last night on the mountain... fired up so quick we put the pump system into auto-charge and had to shut off guns to build the pressure back up... we went from 0-6000gpm in the course of 6-7 hours...

Tried on some Nike boots and they felt awesome. I sold my capita stairmaster that I got from warranty and bought last years burton Sherlock for $200. Now I'm debating on going with union forces or going with some est bindings but I keep on breaking Burton base plates.

Meh the Nikes look good but wont last the season. I went to a decent boot store, told him i dont give a shit about the look or the make, i want something comfy and that will last all season. Had them molded to my feet and easily have been the best boot ive ever used.

Had a big scare a week ago. two good friends both got caught in avalanches. On different sides of the valley!!! glad theyre both alive still. Respect the mountain.

A few of the hills are opening up now, and more slated for the next 2 weeks. This year I'm going to re-learn how to Ski, then I can do both based upon the mountain/terrain I plan on going into.

Back country/big mountain/deep power - Boarding
Resorts - Mostly Skiing

This is the plan anyways, then I can pull the wife along if we run into Cat-tracks or flats lol.

Question, Where does a guy start looking for a very good (mature) Skiing forum? I want to look into getting a nice set up for myself, probably twin tips.

Utah has a unique mixture of the dry snow with lake affect snow which changes the crystal layout of the snowflakes to make the snow really floaty. When it snows here the heaviest snow falls first than lightest snow falls on top of it. The only other place that can combat with snow like utah is Hokkaido japan.

Question, Where does a guy start looking for a very good (mature) Skiing forum? I want to look into getting a nice set up for myself, probably twin tips.

You have two choices. TGR or newschoolers. Both honestly suck in their own way. TGR is full of crusty grumpy old men while newschoolers has teenages who smoke a lot of pot cause they think they are cool but there are a few senior members. I prefer newschoolers over tgr. The crust on those grumpy bastards collects on every post. They would prefer no posting and stiing there with no new content.

Best advice I can give you is go to a boot fitter. Ski boots really need to be fitted to your feet. Second thing I can advise you is use the searchbar/google or you will be a damned man on either forums. The third thing I can advise you is by asking me anything else you need to know. Been a long time gear whore for skiing for everything but boot fitting/boots which requires you to got to school for.

I went to a bootfitter today, and he had me try on those new K2 Pinnacle 110's. Probably the most comfortable boot I had on today, it just fit my foot the best. The compatibility that boot has with basically everything was nice, plus the freeride orientation intrigues me considering I'd like to get back into doing some hiking for the best snow.

I've snowboarded a few times. Its lots of fun but I'm not sure if I want to invest them money. Maybe i will sell my gun and buy a beginner board, boots, bindings, and pants.

Luckily snowboarding is dirt cheep equipment wise. You can get all of that for $200. Skiing on the other hand is expensive as shit. If you are in college or highschool there maybe a ski club and they have a pretty sweet deals usually.
