if you HAVE to buy a gun in that price range the vibe is the best but you should save up $200 and get an SLG.

If you can get an HPA tank when you buy a gun, get the SLG. If you have co2 and cannot afford HPA currently get the vibe then save up. If speed is a problem buy an 08 electra or 08 pilot. They will be faster and still accept co2.

Go for a Dye gun like an SLG or even go for my favorites the Piranha's try to find an EVO or EXT then throw a T-Board in her but i have owned a Vibe and i HATED IT !! brought her back and got a hpa tank for her.. the gun was a mess and i have head mixed feelings towards the Ion either you love it or hate it... to prove i owned a Vibe heres the pic with the Reloader I used on my piranha in my sig

I would personally go with the SP Vibe rather than the SP Ion. Mike did a really good review of the Vibe. It should be on techpb.com or even look on youtube.com for it. If possible, save up some more money and buy a SLG. It would definitely be worth the extra $50.

Smartparts guns. Are just not really worth putting the money into. Sure great for a gun to practice with if you are new but by the time you want to get better you will realies that you need a better gun or at least you need to put a lot of money into say an Ion. The worst part is... By the time you are done getting the gun to where you want it, It will cost you over $500 dollars or more and by the time you are done with it you will not be longer to even sell it for $200 because no one wants it. Same case that is happening to one of my teamates. He bought an Ion, UP'd it to almost max and not only is my gun still better then his, He can't even sell it for more then $200 bucks. And invested about $1200 total into it(including gun obv). And his gun drops off in such a horrible way not to mention no ABS (Anti-bolt stick) like all smartparts guns.

Also.let alone the fact that Smartparts is a terrbile company on how they do business is also hurting the paintball Econemy and they almost shut down paintball not to long ago from sueing just about everyone that had "simlar" designs...

personally i would get the 08 electra over the SLG. the SLG needs alot of upgrades out of the box, feedneck, trigger etc. the electra comes with everything you need, magnetic trigger, on/off, good feedneck. plus since you already own a spyder you could possibly transfer any upgrades that you already own. so depending on whether you need a gun thats great out of the box or a gun the has upgradeable potential go with one or the other. just my 2 cents.

You can easily get a used PMR in that same price range, which would trump the SLG, Ion, and Vibe. If you must own a new gun, I would go with the SLG, not much of a downgrade from the PMR. The Ion can be nice, but with A LOT of $upgrading$ though. If you want to play in tournaments; forget about the vibe entirely, it's fine for a beginner who doesn't have a lot of money and is just goingto play rec ball, but not for tournament play..

Images used in signatures are to be less than Width of 600px, and height of 160px. Only ONE image is aloud in the signature, and it must be 30k or less. Only 5 lines of text are aloud. No text larger then size 2 is allowed in the signature.

Ion if you're willing to put some money into it. Otherwise save a little bit more and pick up a SLG or PMR.

Ok well the vibe is a wopper starter gun, i have had alot of time playing with both markers and the vibe was on top everytime, eventhough the ion/xe is very customizable get a good ion/xe you have to spend quite a bit of cash. Chopping? there is no reason to worry about that with the vibe as the vibe has low force bolt technology and i havnt chopped a ball in over a 2500 balls (now thats good for not having eyes)! Only three firing modes is good for a cheapish starter gun. Thats some of the best things i like about the vibe i do have more but i can't really remmeber them so feel free to e-mail me if you wanna know anything elce! :)

you do realize that tadao 7Th and a couple after market boards are made for the Ion right? they're also tourny legal and relatively cheap for the features they provide

Vibe!

if you are just going to play recball and not get into tournaments then vibe its a great gun for $150 and you can use it right out of the box (+ a HPA or CO2 tank, and hopper, and of course paintballs)

if you want to know what mike thinks about it.

The Vibe is a bit lower quality than the Ion. But if you are planing on buying an Ion, don't. You could get a Proto SLG for around the same price and it's way better.

wait till after cup, then get the cheapest ego5 you can find, they are incredible. and 4 years hasnt changed the ego all that much, at least after the after market parts and board flashes.
working on a shego, need a star frame and board, i can trade a pm6.

aaron you have never held a paintball gun before and never even seen a vibe in person so i dont think you should be saying stuff like that

anyways the vibe does have a clamping feedneck but the barrel is terrible
Nothing better than making a pipe out of your ion....mmmmmmmmmmm tastes fruity and......is that a hint of plastic
