Referee Assaulted at Southern Maryland Paintball

30 March 2014 - 09:51 PM

So, as a few of you on the maryland area(and somehow Mike himself) may have seen a referee at my local paintball field was assaulted while working

here is the post from the fields facebook

***PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT***
Yesterday, we had one of our refs assaulted by a group of 22 walk-ons (they all knew each other). The ref was telling one of the players to leave the field because he shot at another player who wasn't wearing a mask several times BEFORE the game had even started. The player refused to leave, then proceeded to open fire on the ref, who did not have his mask on at the time. The rest of the group then joined in, firing at the ref a substantial number of times. The other refs went out to field to assist in removing them from the premises. We had the county sherifs come out to the field, but the group left before they showed up. The ref is okay, so no worries there.

For all field owners and staff in the DMV area, please contact us for further details on the people involved. Let's spread the word, so we can prevent incidences like this from happening again.

and just to help clear anything up , some popular questions so far

Q: did the players have thier own equipment, was it Chrono'd properly?
A; it was all rental equipment. check afterwards proved the guns were around 260

Q: Did the group fill out waivers?
A: yes, the entire group has had thier waivers collected and i beleive(not 100% sure) the names and addresses were handed to police

Q: "frozen" paint?
A: no, just no, its field paint only

this is definitely something that has hit close to home for me. i used to ref at this field full time for over a year. we used to deal will angry unruly "customers" all the time. but never quite to this extent
