About Me

My name is Rod Selner AKA SirRod. I'm 58 and live in Ruskin, Fl. on the little Manatee River. My motto is "God Made Paintball for Me" but He also made it for you too.

I am a Born Again Christian of the Baptist faith. My Church home is the First Baptist Church of Ruskin Florida. I have attended there since I was 6 years old.

In 1985 I saw a piece on Ch 40 about Island Adventure Paintball, in Palmetto, Fl. Started playing in the summer of 1985, at Island Adventure Paintball on Snead's Island. Where I met, Andy Van Der Platts, of Team Dorsi from FT. Myers Fl. I played with a Nelspot and splatmaster a few times, and said to myself that I had to get a better marker. I saw an ad in the very first Paintball Magazine, (which I still have) Action Pursuit Games, for "The Command Post" in Northern Fl. and ordered my first marker a Constant Air Pump PMI, it didn't have gravity feed just a horizontal feed tube. Well I sent it off to "Gramps and Grizzly" In California, they were the resident airsmiths for Sat Cong Village and had them put on a "Gravity Feed" Gramps told me about a thing called an "Auto Trigger" he said it made the pump paint gun shoot faster well I had to have one of those too. Gramps told me that no one on the East Coast of the U.S. had every ordered one; they were the inventors, so I was the very first paintballer on the East Coast of the U.S. to have an "Auto Trigger" on my pump. At that time I was known as Ramrod, and I was the terror of the paintball scene around Central Fl. Later I changed my handle to SirRodney after the "Wizard of IDs" knight, and later shortened to SirRod. Attended the very first 24hr Scenario paintball game's at Wayne Dollack's old field called "The Survival Zone" in Ocala Fl. called "The Longest Night" with my friends from Team Crossfire, I've been playing Scenarios ever since. Team Crossfire became, The Cotton Mouths and later changed our name to Team Firestorm. As Firestorm we won the 1993 and 94 10man State Championships. We are the only team to win back to back in the State of Florida. In 93 we attended the International Masters Invitational Tournament Produced by Jim Lively, at The Hermitage in Nashville, Tenn. we won 3rd place in the amateur division. I continued to attend 24hr games at "The Survival Zone" for many years and became good friends with Wayne, Doc, Lenney, Bill Mills creator of the web sight WarPig and Diane Howe who later established MXS and became MOTHER. I was the only one with a Pop UP Star Craft Camper, and the Envy of everyone at the Survival Zone camping. In the early 90's a friend and I ran several 24 hr Scenario Games at Jungle Games in Tampa, called Back to Baghdad, which we wrote, produced and directed. We even had an article in APG about our Scenario Games, Written by Ken Gilder AKA "Hollywood" not well known at that time, but has fielded many articles in APG and other paintball magazines since.

In 2004 I was the Chronic field Chrono Ref for the NPPL Super 7 Tampa Tournament, at Tampa Stadium. On Sunday I was invited to be the Chrono Ref at the main NPPL field for the finals where Justus vs Dynasty with Justus winning. I have been playing at MXS's events at Camp Blanding wow 1206 players last Feb 2007.

I played the Viper FEAR Scenario at Camp Blanding in May 2007. Played at Billy's Blanding Bash, in Dec.O7, Billy Smith and staff of Low Country Paintball put on a great game. On Monday Feb. 9th 2009 I was on TV playing paintball with Charlie Belcher the Host of Good Day Tampa Bay at Orbital Paintball in Thonotosassa, Florida. Good Day Tampa Bay did a live show from Orbital Paintball. To see a short video of us playing with Charlie go to HERE. I am the one wareing the white gloves. I also wrote a short article about Orbital Paintball that appeared in The Ford Report HERE. Scroll down till you see "Paintball with Charlie Belcher".

I played at Old River Paintball, Nocers, Holy Grail 7, We kicked the French's butts, Georgia Joe Hamilton was the English King. Pics of the game can be seen on The Ford Report HEREAlso on myspace page SirRod13.
Also played in the Free Final at Low Country Paintball, and Nocers Holy Grail 8, and Rex Green's first scenaro production, Octobers Zombie game, played with the SBPimps. Last event I play was Low Country Paintball's Galaxy Wars. Broke my ribs back in Feb of 2011, but am almost healed now. Oh how I am jonesing for A CCM Pump! I'm going to get back to my first love of Pump play. I want a high end Pump paintball Gun, looking into a CCM Pump as I said above.

My main paint gun is from Smart Parts the SP-1 with the up graded blackheart board and a SP Freak front apex ready.
My back up is a Spec Ops Black Cell Ion. I use HPA and a Smart Parts Freak system, My way back up is an 01 Impulse upgraded with a Smart Parts vertical LPR, vision blue eye cricket board, New Design low rise feed neck and trigger and Dye sticky grips. I also have a WGP KAPP O3 Sniper II That I love, a Tippmann A-5, Pro Am, and a 68 special which is very rare no serial numbers one of the very first made. At one time I had a Tippmann SMG 60 that I regret to this day chopping up for the 68 Special conversion.

I post on many paintball forums. I have been a paintballer for most of my life although I didn't start playing till I was 32 years old.

Forums I have posted on are TechPB, PBX3 Social, PEOG, Spec Ops, WarPig, to name a few. I have been writing some paintball related articles for The Ford Report which Dale Ford has been kind enough to publish for me. Catch me
on Facebook as SirRod13.

I love paintball even before I knew anything about paintball I wanted to play it. I have been waiting for this game most of my life. Now I get to live a dream I have always had play army. Most of my early years shaped my morals, I grew up a fisherman's son, proud of my Seafaring heritage and being a Florida Cracker. Besides playing paintball I love military history, I build plastic models of WWII Aircraft. I have over 50 models 1/72 scale. 50 more in the boxes that are collectable. Collect camouflage uniforms. Military History and Reference books.
My ultimate dream paintball game would be real beach landings at Eggmont Key in the mouth of Tampabay.
This history will be evolving over time so come back and read more.
I want to thank my friend Billy Smith of LCP and Valken Sports, V-Tac for there sponsourship for the upcomming year. Updated on 11/5/10
