My computer beeps

10 February 2011 - 06:54 AM

Normally when a computer beeps at you it's because it's trying to tell you something, the CPU might be overheating or whatever. My computer as far as I'm aware is totally fine but every now and then it lets out a single beep. The beep comes every two hours and it's always on the hour when it does. The computer will make this beep regardless of wether the PC is on, it's off or even if it's off at the mains power.

It might just be one of those quirks computers sometimes have and I don't mind that, but I'd like to get to the bottom because like I said, these beeps are meant to indicate something.

BETRAYED!

I didn't want to post a political topic at first because of the sheer amount of flaming they attract, but I'll give it a go:

WikiLeaks cables: US agrees to tell Russia Britain's nuclear secrets

The messages reportedly show Russia demanded more information on the UK Trident programme - and so Washington asked London for permission to hand over information about the UK missiles' performance. Following the UK refusal, the US agreed to give the serial numbers of missiles it transfers to Britain.

Now Obama has obviously decided that US and Russia should trade Nuclear secrets... I can't imagine every citizen is happy with that but fair enough at least he's in charge of his own country afterall. But since when did we start selling out our allies as well so we can fraternise with the enemy? ^_^

Disclaimer: As with anything media and wikileaks related, could be exaggerated or plain bollocks. Still, it would be very sad if it turns out true.

Need a PC whiz to look over my components

04 November 2010 - 06:05 AM

CPU: Intel i5-760 (4x2.8ghz)
MOBO: Asus P7H55-M H55 Express chipset
RAM: 4gb Corsair DDR3 1600mhz
HD: 1tb SATA2 Harddrive
GPU: 1024mb Radeon HD 5850

OS: Windows 7 Home 64bit
PSU: 750w Thermal Take Toughpower XT
CPU Cooling: Thermal Take CL-P0552 Silent
+ A couple of case fans

Can anyone see any compatibility issues between these components? Any suggestions/ammendments that could be made to this list? I hear 1600Mhz isn't that much different from 133mhz, shall I lower it? Any other cost saving measures that will only see a minor performance decrease?

Lastly, can anyone tell me anything about the Motherboard? Thanks!
