I am the Logistics Officer and Battalion Cook for the 899th Tank Destroyer Battalion (Black Cats) at Oklahoma D-Day. By the end of the week heading up to the big game on Saturday i take care of 50+ players and assorted parents/etc.

Here is what I do:

1) Have plenty of bananas on hand for those that want them
2) Have plenty of cold water in camp
3) Have plenty of weak Gatorade in camp
4) Have a vegetable with each dinner
5) Load up on carbs the night before the big game (but light meal morning of game)
6) Take plenty of high carb/protein snacks and water in my tank during the big game to pass out
7) Watch for the signs of heat distress (I had to actually sit on a player to prevent him from going out again when he was showing serious signs but would not admit it)
8) Be a mother hen in camp when I see my people walking around without water in their hands or on their back

Certain information is needed to properly answer your question:

Are you camping or moteling?
Cook or buy all food?
Going alone or in a group?
Age?

This will be my 4th year and one of the things that you will hear ad nauseum is HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE. This is not something you want to screw around with.

You can be moderately dehydrated and not even know it if you do not know the signs to look for (privately). This will adversely affect your performance on the field even if you do not succumb to heat stroke. Every year we have heat casualties; most are treated in the on-site medical tent but there are always a couple of cases that require sending to the hospital.

When are you planning on going up?

What really surprized me was that any player was allowed into the 'command shack' with an uncovered marker. Every game I have been at where the General or staff had a place to take their masks off no noncovered marker was allowed. basic safety. So was the General violating the rules by not wearing his mask?

You are in luck. Hurricane Paintball Park in Palm Bay is having a game April 21-22. It is just across the river for me but still have to drive a big U to get to it.
