Ugh, when the Homecoming dance comes around my friends always have to force me to go. (I know it isn't homecoming time, but I've been listening to some insane DJs lately and it reminded me of this)
I go to a private school (and I'm not complaining about that, I like being fortunate enough to get the education I do), however this is a religious school. For the most part the normal rules aren't very strict, however the DJs at our dances are put into a stranglehold by the administration. I've heard rumors that the DJs have to play their setlist for the admin weeks in advance so that admin can approve or deny songs. This is stupid for a couple reasons, true DJing isn't planned out in a setlist. If a DJ just presses a spacebar and sits back and lets it play, he isn't DJing, our admin forces the DJs to do this. If that wasn't bad enough, the only EDM played last year was "First of the year" by Skrillex, and "Clarity" by Zedd. While those are both great songs, they were the only EDM played. Hey admin, guess what people dance to these days? EDM. If I had it my way, the homecoming dance would be almost nothing but EDM. W&W, Hardwell, Krewella, Sub Focus, Nicky Romero, AVICII, Example, Netsky, 3LAU, ZEDD, Showtek, Ummet Ozcan, R3hab, NERVO, DVBBS, Diplo, The Glitch Mob, Kaskade, Borgore, Carnage, Kill the Noise, The Chainsmokers, Pegboard Nerds, Brillz, Vicetone, Alesso, Calvin Harris, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, Fedde la Grand, Dyro, Dillon Francis, Cazzette, Cedric Gervais, Savant, would all get played by a proper DJ, but noooooo.
If I knew how to DJ I'd do it myself, but unfortunately I haven't learned yet.
What about bassnectar? Been to two of his shows and they were nuts.
