wow. I have been gone for a long time. My first time with the phantom was a long time ago and since then, I have not gone paintballing once. I don't know why, but the whole situation just really frustrated me. Today when I was cleaning the house i came across my bag with my phantom in it and realized I needed to get out and give it a second chance. I hope this will not be as bad as the first. I was about to put my Phantom up for sale when I decided it definitely needed a second chance. I just gave up way to soon. I hope this time I will not get so many breaks/chops (i don't know which one it was) and that I will get the pump stroke down. Do you guys know if it is better to pump really fast or just at an average speed? If I pumped too fast would that have caused chops? I am just so confused about why so many balls were bursting. I had never heard of that before.

I was using some elixir and some premium. The barrel was pretty dirty when I got home so that could have been the problem.

What do you guys think is causing the barrel breaks?

What detent ring do you have in? are the balls free of breaks and imperfections? You sure you're pumping it right and not pinching any balls? Any of those can cause barrel breaks.

Also, how is the pump stroke? You said you have to forcibly move it forward? That shouldn't happen, the return spring on the pump rod should keep the pump handle all the way forward without difficulty.

Well I have the only detent ring in that works. The next size up is way to big and the next size down is way to small. The balls are pretty much perfect. Im pretty sure I am pumping it right. And the pump stroke has gotten better but there is still a little hiccup at the end. Oh and also, when you pump it do you keep your hand on the pump or take it off?
