Detailed aerial photography of CPX and Living Legends

04 January 2012 - 01:46 AM

One of the single biggest advantages in any scenario game is having a good knowledge of the battlefield. For many of you, LL5 may be your fist experience at CPX Sports. Use these maps to get familiarized with the playing area. Go to Bing Maps, zoom in on CPX sports. Set it to "bird's eye" view. Fool around with the map functions. Study the shit out of these maps and get accustomed to the layout of CPX. These are just a few screen captures that I've posted as examples. Post your own screencaps and use them to design battle strategies. Learn your playing field and learn it well.

S.C.A.R.A.B (Strategic Combat And Recon Autonomous Bomb)

21 September 2011 - 12:53 AM

I've started this thread to cover the progress of the S.C.A.R.A.B project formerly known as the Paintball RC/XD. Over the next few months as things begin to come together, I'll be posting more photos and videos in this thread detailing the fabrication and testing of components. When completed this will be a remotely operated long range ground vehicle designed to spray a large quantity of paint over a 20+ foot radius. It will be making it's debut at Living Legends 5. So stay tuned, much more to come!

This is a video that I just made this past weekend testing out a GoPro Hero camera mounted on a stock 1/8 scale Traxxas E-Maxx 3903 brushed edition. This vehicle is serving as a component testing platform for the time being. The actual finished product is going to be on a heavily modified brushless E-Maxx 3908. I made this video to get an idea of how the picture quality would look while moving at around 25mph over moderately rough terrain (a grassy field pot marked with tire tracks and a lightly wooded area). Although a brushless E-Maxx is capable of much higher speeds (65+mph), I plan on limiting the SCARAB to a safer speed in game play to prevent injuring someone if they were to get hit by it. Not to mention at scale speeds, it would be like trying to maneuver a jacked up pickup truck moving at around 550 mph.

LL4 Secret Weapon

15 May 2011 - 10:58 AM

This is my final prototype of the RCXD that I'll be taking with me to LL4 this year. I just uploaded this video and I'm going to PM it to Viper and see how he feels about letting me use it in the game. So in the meantime, I still want to keep this kinda secret. I'm starting to think it may be best suited for disabling tanks as it has a much better range than a nerf rocket. I'm also thinking about adding a bracket to attache smoke grenades. Feel free to give me some input.

Also just a note. If anyone looked at the final teams list that was just posted by Viper the other day and saw a team called the Berzerkers on the Warhammer side. Don't worry, I'm not of any affiliation. Apparently my team just came up with a popular name back in 1998.

Thursday Campers

06 May 2011 - 07:14 PM

This is going to be my First time at Living Legends. I'm driving out from Maine and I plan on camping on site. I just wanted to know what the camping situation is like.

Is there just one big camping area, or is it segregated for both sides?

Can I camp there on Friday night too?

Is there access to electricity fresh water?

I'm familiar with the map of CPX, but i still can't seem to tell where everyone camps. Also who else here plans on staying on site rather than going to a hotel?

Also forgot to mention, I'm brand new to the TechPB community, but I've been a long time reader of the forum and you guys are awesome. Just saying...
