I've made some changes to the design, i'm going to use an Ion instead of the 98 due to less machining involved. However, i'm concerned about the set-up. I'm planning to flip the ion upside down so the feed port is facing down. Thing is the board connection. Two hoses screw into the bottom of the Ion. With it upside down, the board is now positioned ABOVE the gun. Should I just rig a secondary trigger linked to the firing mechanism on the board? Or figure out a way to make the hoses longer and reach down into the trigger? Using the Ion would make this alot easier, but my only problem lies with setting up the board… Also, I figured out the magazine design, and the body kit I'm just going to repurpose an airsoft SVD (yeah yeah so original) and get a 20 inch FLASC barrel for the FS rounds. I'm told thats overkill, but i want max accuracy and max range i can squeeze out of this.

That's what I figure… Considering it's easier to refill the air tank than remove a co2 cartridge from the magazine plus reload the rounds… even though it doesn't look quite as nice, it's still a paintball marker. I'm currently working on the stock, which I'm going to make slightly bigger than the metal grip on the 98 without the rubber grips, so it's going to just slide over top and screw into place giving the grip a stronger base. My problem is the body kit itself. It's going to be a pain in the butt to configure it for magazine use…. the svd doesnt have a magazine well like the m4 carbine or other american rifles, it's basically just a slot inside the body of the rifle and the mag goes in there… the 98 would be tricky to do that, not to mention i have to move the ball detent to one of the sides of the reciever….. other thing is, the 98 body doesn't look like an SKS or AK body… whereas the SVD has the same body as the SKS and AK, but has a longer foregrip and a different stock. Those aren't overly difficult, but the body is making me concerned for the project. Can't seem to find anything online for a 98 conversion kit to a AK body, just the mag, stock and shroud, all of which are useless to me.

Yeah, I was just thinking it'd be much easier to say "screw it" and use the steel air line from the 98 and attach it to the wooden pistol grip with my 13ci 3000psi tank… Im going to mod some of my spare TPX mags to use FS rounds and make a prototype from there… Anyone happen to know where I could get a body for the 98 to make it look like an AK?

I've decided to use a VS1 and just wire the bolt system to the trigger and the mags are going to be t8.1 first strike rounds :D

Their diameter is just over 2 inches. I don't know exactly what it is, but I know neither tank qualifies for the 2x2 rule.

2x2 rule?

and this IS the HPA tanks right?

the cheapest tank I can find is the Ninja 13ci 3000 psi tank for 70 bucks. guerrilla ones cost over a 100 bucks. not exactly a cheap mod, considering i'm potentially screwing up one of my favourite looking stocks for simplicity's sake and ease of use… I want to be sure before I start drilling out the inside hole in the stock. also, will a co2 88 gram tank adapter work for the hpa tank? or no?
