When is a barrel length too small that it affects performance of the marker? and what is the optimal barrel length?

The optimum length for barrels is 14", one piece un-stepped barrels are best at about 12". Remember this is not accuracy, this is efficiency, too long a barrel and you increase drag and decrease efficiency, too short a barrel and the gas doesn't have enough time to propel the paintball properly so you decrease efficiency.

Depends on what your doing. But 14 inch is about the perfect all-rounder.

Yes get a DM6, they are the marker I recommended in the $300 price range, the only upgrade I would look for and recommend is a CP on/off asa, the dye ultralight asa's are trash IMO.

I own a DM7, pretty much a DM6 with different milling, and it has been the only marker I have been completely satisfied stock with, other than the ASA. Even if you decide not to buy that one on ebay, find one, they are phenomenal.

Yea, I did get it. It's got the CP on/off ASA too...

Isn't that the one ebay? It went for 325 a couple of minutes ago :P

A guy is asking for 280 for one on craigslist in my area, not sure about upgrades. I'm kinda on the fence about it too.

Yep, that's the one.
