In Topic: grey ghost vs phantom

I picked the Ghost over the phantom because of it's less modularity (and damn it is a smexy marker).

They are both great little markers, but I felt if I had a phantom, I would end up dumping more and more $$ into it. Not on repairs or performance items, but ya know the duckslide is damn pretty, and another couple of hundred bucks.

I would say if your the kind of person who likes to build a marker into what you want, go with the phantom, if you want a high end marker that really in my opinion needs nothing else, go with the Ghost.

My best, is one that I am sure any regular pistol player ( and some pumpers) have heard.

After playing two or three games, with some walk on's before our private party started. I was only using my T8.1 and not making a complete fool of myself (that was later)

Just before game starts

kid with A5 to my friend:: "I broke my hopper today, so can't use my (insert top end electro here) today. I am stuck with the crappy A-5.... blah blah blah (he ranted to long i tuned him out for a moment) and man I wish i had my (insert top end electro here)"

I started to check my mags.

Kid to me:: "Is that all you have? "

Me:: "yes"

Kid:: "Do you have a real marker?"

Me looking at my 8.1:: "This is a real marker"

then game started and I booked accross the field, never to talk to him again.

In Topic: Considering a T8.1 pistol?

16 September 2011 - 02:57 PM

I recently made the total change over to Pistol. I am using an 8.1 as my main marker, it is very competitive as a main. You gain a freedom of movement that is amazing, I used to lug around my cocker and all the ammo and everything. Now when I went out I was moving so much faster than I would normally. It takes a bit to get used to, not having tons o ammo on you and having to plan your shots, but I was able to poke through such smaller gaps, and in general be such a smaller target that it made up for it.

I agree that it is like using a pump.

While I did manage to suck it up in quite a few matches, (getting used to 12g's and remembering that they need to be replaced) but with the pistol as your main you will have at least one moment of total bad @ssery when you get out that makes up for it. Like goggling a friend at half the field length with one shot in front of the ref, who could not stop laughing.

I would say if you know someone who has one, try it out for a few rounds first, it takes a bit to get used to it and I can see it not being for everyone.
