In Topic: Airsoft Glasses vs paintballs

04 March 2013 - 01:16 AM

airsoft bbs .2 grams flying at 500 fps hit with .15 pounds of force
a paintball 3 grams flying at 300 fps hits with 1.5 pounds of force.
ten times the impact

and an almost completely unrelated topic for those who think paintball makes them tough, a lacrosse ball going 80 mph (which is a fairly normal shot speed) hits with 128 pounds of force

Lacrosse is an acceptable sport, yet paintball and airsoft are considered violent or whatever negative adjectives people think of. Genius.

Anyways, regardless of what the math tells you about BBs and paintballs, would you really want to take the chance with your eyes?

In Topic: Maintenance on Rev-I withL7 bolt engine

Yea I just have to the field. Also I was thinking I need to perform maintenance on the regulator. Not sure when the last owner did.

Well there's your problem. I always assume the previous owner had absolutely no idea what they were doing, especially when it comes to maintenance. I would recommend replacing all the orings, as well as the solenoid orings if you're feeling adventurous. Also check the reg seat for indentation, as that can cause velocity issues as well.

At the fields proshop where they sell the paint, they have a sign saying no returns and stuff. I don't think they will let me examine the paint before i buy it. What should i do in this case? SHould i just ask them or say that the last time i bought paint it was all dimpled?

You're way too late to do anything. You must bring up such problems to the proshop immediately. At best they'll say they're sorry. At my fields, the employees always inspect the paint in front of whoever is buying, so they can avoid these issues. Plus, if there is defective paint, supposedly they can send it back to their supplier for replacements. However you yourself don't get any (tangible) warranty on the paint.

Also just to be clear, is your paint breaking in the barrel only or in the breech?

Used is your best bet. The market is being saturated by axes, so it go well under $350 in time. Everyone has an opinion on the best marker. Test fire as many as you can, and decide for yourself which is the best marker for you.

There is a such thing as washing clothes. Masks, on the other hand, are harder to clean. As suggested, you're probably better off buying a new mask. I can justify the $100 for a new mask, but never for a pair of pants.
